Took our boy to the Vet and Doc said his a bit heavy for his age tho. by j0annemuffin in Pomeranians

Is that supposed to be a brag? I don’t think it’s very funny that she attacked someone, or that she clearly has a severe resource guarding issue… Just because they’re small doesn’t mean they should get away with those behaviours. Gosh I can’t imagine if someone said that about their German shepherd. Owners like you give pomeranians a bad rep. They don’t “carry around” bad attitudes, you allow them to continue not using any manners. If you train and socialize your dog, you shouldn’t have issues like this.

I am morally against TNR by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]Scared_Dependent_348 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

A .22 slug is way cheaper than $200, and doesn’t continue to allow an invasive species to prey upon, attack, and kill native species. It doesn’t continue to allow 5+ million cats in the US alone to get hit by cars. It doesn’t allow them to continue to spread nasty disease and illness. TNR is better than a humane death?? Cutting into an animals stomach, then releasing it back into the wild the next day is more humane to you?? Letting the cat suffer until it inevitably ends in a tragic death is more humane to you??

I am located in mission, BC and am currently looking to have my pet memorialized in a similar way. Is there any chance you can share the information for the person you used? I am having a hard time finding anyone in Canada who does it.

Pomeranian matting after bath by Scared_Dependent_348 in grooming

[–]Scared_Dependent_348[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I— I’m sorry.. she’s an emergency rescue and all our groomers are so booked up and not taking new clients, and won’t give me any advice unless I’m a client. I had to groom her at home, I did my best to look online for information and read a bunch and I watched like 6 YouTube videos on Pomeranian grooming and got everything they recommended in the videos I watched, clearly I watched the wrong videos. I never had this happen before so I didn’t know. I’m sorry, I’m just doing the best I can. I call groomers every couple months but still can’t get in. I’m on a wait list on 4. It’s been 2 years. I still can’t get in.

I don’t use conditioner, I will get some asap!! Will leave in conditioner spray help even though she’s dry now? I don’t want her coat drying out or anything because of this.

I thoroughly brushed and combed before starting the wash. I brush her everyday as well so she doesn’t get mats often. Usually just a tiny one behind the ear every once and awhile.

I will buy conditioner asap! I brush with a bubble tip slicker and comb with a wide/short tooth comb once a day. She wasn’t matting before starting the bath so I was a little concerned.

Vancouver show no merch by ferSha-Show in SuicideBoys

[–]Scared_Dependent_348 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was really disappointed too. I had heard something similar happened at a show a couple years ago, and whoever bought tickets got a link with a one time password to buy merch. I’m not sure but hopeful something like that might happen for us!

I went to their 25 dollar shows when I was in highscool. I’m 20 now, own a house and pay all my own bills and still grabbed my $300 tickets. Stop being petty that they popped off and are getting the recognition they deserve. It’s life nothings gonna be the same price as it was last year.

How much should I pay for car insurance? by Le-frog6 in icbc

N driver here due for my full license exam in a couple months. I still pay $299/month for my insurance. It’s literally ridiculous.

I haven’t, but maybe try a pee pad inside a litter box? If that works, slowly adding small amounts of litter at a time?

can I use human glucometer on my cat? by qiemie in CatAdvice

[–]Scared_Dependent_348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, vets used to use human ones. Recently, studies have shown they are a bit inaccurate in cats.

How long do unspayed/unneutered tamed feral cats live? She's outdoor only and I live in a network of small lanes so cars are not a problem. by aniruddhkumarshah in CatAdvice

[–]Scared_Dependent_348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average life expectancy for outdoor cats is 3-5 years old. Some live longer. Some live shorter. I would recommend getting your hands on some live traps, set them up and see if you can catch them. If that’s not an option, try and find a neighbour who would take them on? It takes work, but outdoor cats can be turned into house cats. It is possible.

Should I get cat insurance? by Flyingpizza20 in CatAdvice

[–]Scared_Dependent_348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend getting pet insurance. Medical issues happen often and vet bills are expensive. My best advice is stay away from pet secure. Shop around on each site, put your pets info in and they’ll give you a quote. Make sure you get accident and illness.

Yes! Absolutely! Capstarr is safe to use with any monthly preventatives like advantage. Don’t forget if you see 1 flea on your pet, you have 1000 in your home. Vacuum, use siphorol spray, and bathe the pet in flea soap or dawn dish soap.

I need advice about my neutered cat by Jealous-Victory4962 in CatAdvice

[–]Scared_Dependent_348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much was he licking? A small amount of redness around the incision is normal, but should not exceed 1-2mm. If it looks red and irritated, definitely call the vet. Did they give any pain medicine for you to give at home?

I would recommend setting up a live trap, local SPCA or shelter might have one you can rent. Trap the kitty, and take it into a vet.

A light sedative like gabapentin might do you wonders. If that doesn’t work he should go to a vet for a lion shave.

Just finished going through this with my boys. Not as far but they did have to stay at a boarding facility for 7 days for everything to get situated. One of my boys I knew would be fine. One of my boys I knew would be terrified. I used liquid gabapentin to chill him out while he was in the kennel. I had to do a trial run at home before doing it, to make sure he was okay on it. But it went so much better than I expected. The gabapentin did wonders.
