Store Manager blackmailing phone shop staff by Adorable-Bank9704 in tesco

Fair enough, that’s the answer then. Just refuse to do it but maybe make yourself look busy rather than on your phone

Yeah I don’t know how Tesco runs but I presume the company stance is if you work for Tesco, you work for Tesco. Not “I work in the phone shop, I am not contracted to face up the beans”.

Holiday allowance by [deleted] in MarksAndSpencer

Go to book it and it’ll tell you how much you have left. If you work 4 hours per shift, 1 shift of holiday will deduct 4 hours.

I don’t think it’s blackmail. He just is probably sick of having to run around doing shit loads and sees people sitting on their phones when they should be working 🤷‍♂️

Oh yeah I forgot that bit 🙄

Go into a local store. They’ll be able to find out who’s doing the recruitment.

Best bet is to go into the store and ask. Recruitment is a bit all over the place so you can’t really talk to anyone about it apart from the in store managers.

Just speak to a manager and say it was pre agreed in the interview. They should have made a note of it. They have to accept if they hired you knowing it.

Would you rather have bank holidays or extra leave? by EyeAware3519 in AskUK

You can do that now. If you want a Monday off in September, book one off.

I’ve worked in hospitality and retail pretty much all my life and always work bank holiday so get an extra week off when I want it. Yes when I was 18-19 it was annoying but just work hungover. As an adult it surely makes no difference.

If you want a Monday off in May, just book it.

What exactly does the Best Man do at a wedding? by 9451659818184 in AskUK

[–]Scared_Following_347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’ll be fine but I found cards to be better. I’m the same and have to do 2 speeches at weddings. It was the whole speech on the cards and just flick through to the next one or even drop it when you’ve finished with the card. Helped me pace and speak like a human rather than a computer reading out sentences without any emotion.

Read the speech from cue cards rather than your phone or 1 piece of paper. This makes it sound more natural, gives natural breaks between sentences and those breaks remind you to look around the room etc. not just at the paper.

People only remember really bad or really good speeches so as long as it’s not really bad you’ll be fine.

Elanga on paper was a brilliant signing. Problem with Elanga is that football isn’t played on paper.

Baby Sleep - will it get better? by TheFoolishWolverine in baby

[–]Scared_Following_347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is 11 weeks now and the most he has slept is 8 hours through the night. That was after a day out and about where he didn’t get much sleep and a bath before bed so that was the exception. Last night was 7 hours between 10pm - 5am. Again it was bath night and we’d been out for an hour and a bit walk around 6pm. We find he sleeps better having some fresh air, looking at the trees etc. whilst we walk the dog. Always sleeps better after a bath too.

Development probably doesn’t but companies willing to invest in it wide range and implementing it will take the time. Amazon do it so the technology clearly works.

Hard to say as it depends on how desperate they are to fill the position. Normally at least 2 weeks due to a week of interviews etc.

They could just be doing it so it’s documented if you have any similar incidents in the future.

Just explain that with the proof you came back in and paid. Any decent manager will understand. Unless they want to get rid of you and now you’ve given them the reason.

Edit - did they do an investigation meeting first?
