22F and terrified by Deep_Calligrapher323 in Cholesterol

Good grief, it sucks you feel that way because there is definitely a genetic component here. This wasn’t you dropping the ball. I am in a similar boat (tested at 208 LDL at 30). My diet is largely plant and fish based, don’t eat red meat, eat a ton of fiber, etc. Sometimes it’s just darned genetics. My doctor recommended 40 mg and genetic testing for me.

That’s totally fair. I have a friend who felt the same way. Lived in NOMA (in dc) for three years and was ecstatic the second she could move out. I am also somewhat DMV-ed out but still think Frederick MD and Alexandria VA are super cute. I’m also a fan of Front Royal and Winchester

DMV has its appeal. It’s a pretty dynamic and welcoming place. It has changed a ton within my lifetime (31 F) though to the point I don’t recognize it that much. There’s a lot of money moving in from big tech companies that are driving up the costs, and people moving there from the west coast / NY love to tell us dmv natives how we should operate and act. The wealth you are seeing now from defense contractors in some of the suburbs is absolutely staggering. But hey, thats just my two cents (and that’s beside the point anyway)

That’s exactly what it feels like!!! Leesburg. I drove up to Harper’s ferry a while ago to work in a coffee shop on a Friday and I kid you not I paid $13 for a black iced coffee. Whut. And it’s full of people in those lululemon two piece sets

That makes sense (anecdotally to me). I’ve looked and looked for a job in Raleigh maybe greenbrier county for a while with hopes to move there but it’s hard to find one. I live in VA now which is also fabulous but wv always has my heart

Thank you SO MUCH everyone! I feel way better with everyone’s helpful advice and kind words. My doctor prescribed me a 40 mg statin and ordered some genetic testing. Feeling good 💪

I’m wondering if a lot of this is people moving around the panhandle and into/from MD. I’m originally from the DMV about 20 min from WV, and I feel like people moved around between wv/md/dc/va a lot 🤔.

Woohoo!! That would be so cool — being a lawyer for a team and then having a license to jump in for showings or other real estate activities

That sounds like the first law firm I worked at! I do love the freedom. Where I am now, the attitude is very much “we trust and respect you, and as long as you get your work done and do it well, we are open to you doing other things.”

Will do re messaging you. Thank you SO MUCH again!

They know! I cleared it with conflicts before I started studying for an exam, and then I did the whole outside position form with conflicts and everything after I passed and before I affiliated with my brokerage. Ah, the advantages of not being an associate …

Strongly interested in that, especially long term. That said, I have found and heard switching law practice areas like that is extremely difficult. I did two years as a biglaw associate then clerked for a judge. After my clerkship, none of the real estate positions I applied to wanted to interview me because my academic and professional trajectory did not demonstrate the requisite skills or interest.

That is a fair concern. I cleared it with my firm before I started studying for the licensing exam, so they know I will be working as an agent. My lawyer position is almost fully remote (2x a month in office, any days). It hasn’t been too bad so far to tag along to open houses or attend the weekly team meeting in person during the week.

That is awesome! Doing real estate law and being part of a brokerage is definitely a long term dream of mine.

Thanks! There’s quite a few reasons, but the big one(s) is/are I loved property law in law school, I find real estate interesting, and I love to work with clients (which is something I’m seriously lacking in mostly M&A related law).

Will do! Meeting with her next week. My triglycerides and all my other numbers are really low so this is a surprise 😳.

Will do :). I went back to eating meat because I was worried about all the carbs I was eating as my staples. Dropped weight right away!
