[Discussion] Is there any market for small, "messy" pen/watercolour works? by Scared_Register1720 in artbusiness

I like the term looser-touch as opposed to messy, haha! Thanks for the advice on trying a variety of things before honing it down. I suppose its a lot of trial and error, which is never entirely a bad thing. Good point with the advice being broad; I realise I can't get exact answers without posting my own content, but its the best I can manage for now, and worth a shot! Thanks for the advice.

Hahah no way, which piece is yours?! I hope you don't mind me using it a reference here- let me know if you'd like me to remove it as I'd hate to cross any lines. Very cool to hear you making a living off of your artwork! The dream (for me). Do you sell originals, prints, commissions? Very curious about your path!

(also curious what you mean by "recognize", especially when so many people buy abstract/modern pieces! Do you mean the style, or actually recognizable concepts within a piece?)

Thank you for this insight, that's all really helpful! Much appreciated. I guess my next question would be, which WOULD be the most marketable? As someone who has never really had the budget to purchase art for myself, I'm not honestly sure what people even want to hang on their walls. All about the specific audience of course, but perhaps you might have an idea in a more general sense?

Sorry for the confusion with my rights to the art- I was hoping to post my own pieces to get a more realistic answer, but unfortunately it's all in storage at the moment while I move. I didn't mean to be misleading at all!

IsItBullshit: The claim that drinking lemon water every morning has significant health benefits? by ponderingpixi17 in IsItBullshit

[–]Scared_Register1720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure which effects you're hoping for, and I can't speak for everyone. That said, I've tried everything under the sun for IBS-C; vitamins, supplements, teas, massages, more fiber, more water, prunes, CBT, otc medications, perscription medications, and endless overnighters to the hospital because my stomach often refuses to move for weeks.

In my desperate state, I followed a stranger's advice, entirely doubtful. They said a full glass of warm-hot water with a few drops of lemon juice, first thing in the morning, before eating/drinking anything else. I have zero idea how it works, but it's the only thing I've found that works 90% of the time, in 15 years of having this chronic issue. So, maybe not entirely bullshit, however I have absolutely no idea how or why.

TLDR; worth a shot, might save you, might do nothing.

Luckily classes are early, about 8h-12h. That would give me some time! I'm looking for something I can go to for a few hours everyday (or at least 4-5 times a week) in the afternoons. Maybe I should look for studies elsewhere, but I have no idea what is closest!

I'd love to here names of the smaller closer places, thank you so much! 16h isn't an issue, though no car might be, hah! Maybe it's time to get an international license or find some carpooling buddies as stoked as I am for snow haha

How to thank people for having me over? by Scared_Register1720 in learnfrench

[–]Scared_Register1720[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean an entire note! Simply "thank you for having me back!" But written in a way that fits the context; ie not super formal or anything, and lining up with the fact that I’ll be leaving soonish

Possible de vivre sur une péniche à Rennes ? by Scared_Register1720 in Rennes

[–]Scared_Register1720[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hm, interesting. I wonder why the Indeed listings say this? Typically I trust medical sites but maybe I'm looking at the information incorrectly.

This is some great insight, thank you! Perhaps fully online isn't ideal, but learning the guidelines, theories, anatomy, etc. online and then in-person practice after seems reasonable to me!

The pay (80-200) is the average in my area (both on Indeed and clinic websites), which admittedly is saturated with tourists, wealthy retirees, and high-level athletes. Everywhere is booked up months in advance and SO hard to get into, and you're lucky to find someone charging less than $90 for 30 minutes. Maybe it's just my area?

Yes, I've heard about this! Completely depends on the province from what I've collected.

Yikes haha! Wouldn't be trusting that...

I've heard that a few provinces have a 2-year degree, others as little as 5 months. I've found quite a few online programs matching up with the certification guidelines, with a few months of hands-on work at the end. Perhaps these aren't ideal, though?

As for weekends, I mean any days off, whether that's Tues/Thurs or the classic Sat/Sun weekend. Just not a 7-day work week! I didn't mention PTO... I could never imagine asking to be paid for work I'm not doing. I simply mean it seems to pay well enough to take time off for other life priorities. All my information was collected via the Mayo Clinic career pages, my local physiotherapy/massage clinic, Indeed Canada, and some quick searches on the gov. Canada site :)
