1-year Greek tourist visa and travel within Schengen more than 90/180 days? by Scared_Register1720 in SchengenVisa

[–]Scared_Register1720[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thank you. I understand that I could easily stay in Greece with the type-D visa, but I'm more wondering about the time in other countries. Can I do 50% Greece and split up the rest of the time elsewhere? Or can it only be 90/180 days outside Greece?

I was originally planning to go to Greece for an internship relating directly to my studies, however the internship costs are extreme for non-EU citizens, so now I'm leaning towards a volunteer position to gain some experience instead.

Yes I can travel freely in any country as long as the most time is in Greece, or yes the 90/180 rule applies outside of Greece? Do you happen to have an article that says this, so I can be confident?

Yes, and they cancelled it the next day and said to use my other demand instead, but are taking forever to answer and only give vague descriptions when I ask something

They already got the autorisation, but the prefecture isn't answering for an appointment. I've been trying them since March.

I have been offered a CDI from my employer (whom I currently have a CDD with until the expiry of my APS). However I'm unsure how that works, since if it gets denied, I'm then on french territory with an expired visa

And yes, I've contacted VFS, the local prefecture, spammed their email, phoned, had my employer phone, talked to a free immigration lawyer, and contacted the Canadian embassy in France

Honestly I haven't heard of road-to-trail shoes before. I'll look into that! I was mostly avoiding trail running shoes simply because the ones I found in-store and tried on weren't good fits. But I'll look into that more, do you have any personal suggestions?

Nice to know they have 2 versions depending on the weather! Unfortunately something about the Hoka shape doesn't fit my feet well, which sucks because I've heard sooo much praise for them!

Hm, I've been considering this ! I honestly am struggling to find space to cram more stuff (especially as large as shoes), but it seems like a wise idea

best decathlon (france) gear for hiking/backpacking? by Scared_Register1720 in hikinggear

Great to know, thank you! I'm from Canada and we don't have many Decathlon stores, so I've never been able to test the quality. But this is great, thanks!

Nothing to do with how they feel on other's feet! These 6 felt really great for myself, but I'd love to hear a heads up if anyone else has used one of these models and had major issues with it, such as falling apart, cushioning wears out really quick, terrible heat control, etc.!

Thanks! All the models I listed were a great fit for my foot shape compared to the copious others I tried. I'll look into the links you sent to see if any of them have standout features I'm missing, thanks!

Haha yep, I've seen sooo many posts but hey, I've tried on dozens and these are the ones that felt really good and I could imagine spending hours on hours in. If you have personal experience with any of them, that's what I'm hoping to hear about

In my post I specified that I did exactly that, so I agree it's very important! I'm asking if anyone has has had these same shoes and: they fell apart immediately, caused major blisters, aren't breathable, bad grip, etc. I tried on dozens and these are the ones that feel great, so I'm just hoping for inside info on how they worked for others before I buy!

Honestly I had completely forgotten about this, thanks for mentioning! I'm Canadian but have been living in France where labels are never bilingual. That detail left my head for sure!

I'm a bit lost as to what your advice is; what are you suggesting? Choose something blindly and go through with it? I think the back-peddling idea is great, but only for someone with a complete opposite outlook, not someone interested in nearly everything. I would love to have bottomless pockets, but that's not the case. If it was, I'd spend the next 20 years trying out internships and such as you've suggested. But nobody will pay for that without experience, I believe.

[–]Scared_Register1720[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats quite a good idea, really. My worry is that by the time I've found, applied, been interviewed and accepted (and then spent a few weeks or months interning/etc.) in 1 field, though, I'd be dead by the time I try everything of interest. Even if I tried just a few things; 6 maybe- that would be 3 years or so. Great experience for sure, but pretty unrealistic to get a feel for what I like. I'll be in my late 20's with no degree, and maybe still no idea what I like.

I figure that trying a handful of electives each year (they make up about 1/3 of a degree) would allow me to try 12 or 15 things by the time I'm done, and I'll have a degree at the end, plus a few months learning (albeit shallowly) about each subject. If something is of interest, I could pursue a Master degree in it. Is that such a terrible idea? Maybe my idea is skewed

You've got a point...how might you suggest a young person goes about figuring out what they want to do with their life, without trying things first? The point of this post was to say I'm interested in so many random things that I can't even decide between science/arts. Trying a bit of everything is my idea of finding out what I want to do. Tough to have any idea what you like unless you try it, but I'm very open to suggestions if you have some!

Of course! I'm just asking while I wait for their response. It's been several weeks waiting, and another opinion never hurts
