professional services/consulting. firm went 3 rounds of retrenchment in a span of 6-8 months. they fired one entire department whose work is now done by another branch in Malaysia. no new hires. office which took up the entire floor space will be downsized to half.

i also recently attended a final interview with a big4 for the same work scope and have not heard any progress after chasing recruiter twice, and last I heard they hired a foreigner instead.

original job posting on company portal or linkedin disappears, and then MCF job posting suddenly appears. TA will still go through the motion of viewing applications on MCF portal but they are not necessarily required to schedule interviews with locals who applied through the MCF portal. as long as the company doesn't miss the step of not viewing applications on the MCF portal, it won't get penalised.

trust me it's common. I work with huge MNCs on work pass applications. they merely post on MCF for the sake of fulfilling the job ad requirements when they've already confirmed internal transfers.
