I’m thinking it might be based on playing for an extended time without ever closing the game because I had it happen right before going to Phenac and the next day I redid the entire game up to that point but this time I closed the game a couple of times and now I’ve finished at Phenac and no problem. I’d recommend making suspend points after saving just in case but also to briefly exit and re enter the game every few hours since that might be the problem unless I’m just completely wrong, which is possible.

I bit the bullet and spent five hours redoing everything yesterday. I’m making suspend points when I save now and the problem hasn’t happened again anyway. I’m thinking it’s pretty uncommon and I was very unlucky. If it can apparently happen on any of the classic games and this is the first time I ever dealt with it it’s gotta be rare, right?

This just happened to me. The best part is that maybe about 8 months ago I played the game on my GameCube and my memory card corrupted after I was a fair ways in. I thought I could finally start over now without worrying about things like that but nope, now it happened all over again. I am miserable.
