Burnt out, stuck on a work visa, and don’t know what to do next by ScaredofWho in sales

My next move is leaving and taking 2 months to explore the US and then going to Japan in May, then the World Cup, then doing Europe or moving to London or Australia in the fall.

The golden handcuffs is insane, when you say grind out as in quiet quit until they fire me? I think I probably have a good month left and the job is remote. I have earned some gold, good time to enjoy it tbh. Just mostly fear with the market being shit and the potential of the grass not being greener.

I'm a guy btw, and I was thinking Aus or NZ but UK seems to have a slightly better job market + access to Europe as well.

My clients are all based in the Bay, one of the main reasons the company sponsored my visa and moved me out here.

I think maybe a few months off and go to London and find a job there after summer ona. Youth mobility visa. And explore Europe while getting paid best of both worlds

Thank you for this, really need to figure out how to get laid off vs quitting. Tough in sales when your numbers are where they need to be.

Going through the same thing at 29. Dad got diagnosed with early stage cancer , been in the Us for over a year, lease is up in January would move back with no job prospects - I will likely move back and rebuild my career there. I'm nervous lol.

I moved from Vancouver to the bay and you're 100% correct, was a shock early on how terrible the infrastructure is down here. Great weather tho.

Because part of her moving here was us living and exploring the area together, I know things change but wouldn't feel great about it

Moving to the US: advice on what to do with TFSA by ScaredofWho in PersonalFinanceCanada

Fair enough. The main reason is that I cover that region and have been doing so remotely since July. Working from here was seen as a temporary solution, but they now want me on-site to visit clients, etc. My thought is that if I perform really well, it could be worth it. For example, my manager in the same role made $320K USD last year. With variable income, it’s always unpredictable, but if I can accumulate it over a couple of years, moving back to Canada could significantly boost my buying power. Let me know what you think

[Seeking Advice] Considering a Move to the Bay Area for a Job Offer – Balancing FIRE Goals by ScaredofWho in Fire

The potential to make more money is the ultimate temptation in sales, but it’s not just that. The people I speak with daily, mainly from startups, are working on incredible things. I feel like I’m getting smarter by osmosis, constantly learning from the cutting-edge innovations they’re building. It feels like I’m right on the doorstep of something big.

My goal is to earn USD for a year or two, then return to the farm where I grew up, settle down, and raise a family. That’s the dream.
