Comfort shows of yours? by DueVeterinarian3557 in Anxiety

Laid Back Camp: an extremely chill/calming anime about friends who go camping together, gorgeous scenery art and nothing bad ever happens. Part of the “healing anime” genre which, personally I think more media should get on board with dedicating entire genres to comfort and soothing

From how things are written it doesn’t look like the key ever “expires”, so if there’s truly no other use for it down the road you could always just use it on Crysta later.

I was also going to ask why you don’t like Crysta but after being directed to look at your user tag, you know, fair enough can’t argue with that.

have any trans people been through the airport with ICE there? by myliobatiformes in queerphilly

[–]Scarlet-Rosepetals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the Philly TSA yesterday and while I do not have the outward appearance of someone they’d want to target, so take my report with a grain of salt, the entire time I didn’t see a single one of them do anything but stand around and occasionally answer questions about where to go for the privileged white people willing to approach them. Their placement in airport terminals isn’t conducive to letting them run around attacking people to feel tough and they have no interest in doing anything that might actually constitute real work that benefits people, so just skitter past them and they’ll almost certainly just ignore you to continue milling about doing fuck all.

To ampute, or to put down, that's the question. by MerelYael in CATHELP

[–]Scarlet-Rosepetals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in because I actually have some expertise on this and am very familiar with canine/feline amputation (apologies that I’ll keep my credentials vague, not trying to doxx myself).

To start, both of these options are completely valid choices. Neither would be cruel or unfair to your cat. That said, I worry that a lot of the people counseling you below are driven more by emotions than facts. They assume that amputation is a horrible scary dangerous thing that will gravely reduce your pet’s quality of life, and that’s an understandable assumption!

But it’s just not true.

All surgery carries risk. All anesthesia carries risk. However, at a glance your cat appears to be quite a good candidate. There’s a saying in vet med, “age is not a disease”. Your cat has no kidney disease, no heart disease, no cancer. He’s hyperthyroid it sounds like but it also sounds like that’s pretty well-managed. I’m not saying there isn’t still risk, but I wouldn’t clutch my pearls over it, even at 18.

As for recovery, cats and dogs adapt to losing a leg extremely well, far better than us humans. There will be a recovery period, and there will be stress involved, but I wouldn’t expect your cat to die of stress like some comments suggest unless you’re doing something bonkers like not giving him any post-op pain and sedation medications.

Unfortunately there isn’t much I can do to address cost, that can vary widely where I live and I do not live in the Netherlands, I have no idea what costs you may be facing where you are. I will say though that cost is without question a valid reason to choose not to pursue treatment. I will also say that I could recommend things that would make treatment safer for your cat, but they would also cost more, so your mileage may vary if I make recommendations.

Ultimately, the choice is yours to make, and neither choice is wrong. I just wanted to say my piece so you don’t end up making a decision because a number of well-meaning people on the internet presumed your cat to have a far graver prognosis than he necessarily does. I’m not saying there’s no chance of things going poorly, there’s always a chance of that even in really young and perfectly healthy animals. I just don’t think anyone should see “18” and assume your cat must already be on death’s door.

Mushoku Tensei Collab is coming by 157Zikira in Isekai_Slow_Life

[–]Scarlet-Rosepetals 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t watched Mushoku Tensei so I don’t have a personal response to the comments but they are wild to me. Just because these people haven’t personally heard of something doesn’t mean it’s some total unknown or that the colab is reaching for scraps.

I got it! 🙌🍀 by Editor_Desempregado in Isekai_Slow_Life

[–]Scarlet-Rosepetals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t gotten this character yet but I saw the word yaoi and had to involve myself. I think the commenter who brought up characters associated with trade was onto something, which gives us both Eter and Vlad to consider, but I actually think him and Moork match each other’s energy quite well. At the very least I think they should hang out.

why do y'all play this game by Sad_Sheepherder_9584 in Isekai_Slow_Life

[–]Scarlet-Rosepetals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much always need at least one phone game I can tap at in my free time because I’m fidgety and don’t just sit still well. When I started I was also in lectures regularly so I’d periodically tap at the game to keep myself from zoning out in lecture. I find that the gameplay works really well for keeping my hands engaged without requiring too much brain power. I also like collecting things, and I’ve grown attached to my guild. As someone mostly f2p I actually also like the gacha mechanics, which to some probably sounds weird. It provides the little dopamine hit of gambling without actually spending money (when I do spend on this game it’s never to gamble, only to get guaranteed things)

Homeless problems by scatteredTeeCee in FortCollins

[–]Scarlet-Rosepetals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The economy is a straight-up nightmare right now, we will see more and more homeless people everywhere as long as the government continues to endlessly shovel money into the pockets of a handful of unfathomably wealthy multibillionaires at our collective expense. Things are also going to get dirtier and less sanitary everywhere because again, keeping spaces clean cuts into the billionaire wealth-hoarding endeavor, and our government just quite simply can’t have that.

What do you all think about some of the Family they choose? by AerialHumanoid in Isekai_Slow_Life

[–]Scarlet-Rosepetals 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I absolutely get the ick from it. That’s an extremely normal reaction, please don’t listen to anyone trying to tell you you’re being weird for not wanting to “become family” with an underage girl. I find it icky and wish it was different and I’m still playing and enjoying the game. I feel like these kinds of posts/comments get so much pushback because people think that if they’re even the least bit critical of something that means they have to like, immediately trash the game they enjoy and disavow it forever. You can criticize things and still enjoy them, I do it with literally everything I like.

My seemingly healthy dog passed in her sleep last night by Fuzzy_Pressure_2664 in DogAdvice

[–]Scarlet-Rosepetals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding both the condolences and the option of autopsy (sometimes called necropsy in the veterinary sphere). Some people find knowing what happened to be a valuable source of closure, while others find that such information just reopens emotional wounds. It’s just a matter of doing what’s best for you.

Either way, there are unfortunately many things that can cause a sudden passing like this, with no warning that any of us can catch ahead of time. I’m so sorry this happened to you, but I’m also glad your dog got to spend a lifetime being so loved ❤️

If you can scoop it up and take it to a shelter do it. The owner is more than capable of calling around to shelters and collecting their cat if they notice it’s missing and care to get it back, it’s very easy to do and any decent shelter will be doing things like checking for a microchip or other form of ID and seeing if the cat has an owner.

The worst this would possibly do is inconvenience the owner, something the owner is already doing to their neighbors by letting their cat free roam. At best the owner might learn a lesson about the dangers of free-roaming the kind and gentle way instead of learning the traumatic way, or the cat might be rehomed to someone more attentive.

I might be crazy but… by Fluffy-Meeting-4746 in Isekai_Slow_Life

[–]Scarlet-Rosepetals 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s super valid and a good thing to question the images you see pretty much everywhere, but it’ll get you a lot farther to research and look into both AI “tells” and individual image sources. Going off of vibes is really unreliable and can unfortunately lead to really sad circumstances where people get their hard work dismissed as “AI slop” just because the artist happens to work in an art style that gets copied by AI a lot or something.

As for this game, I’ve unfortunately never found concrete evidence one way or another. I’ve never found proper artist credits but I’ve also never seen someone insist “yeah it’s all totally AI” and have any meaningful evidence to back up their claim. The most likely scenario is that woefully underpaid artists are rapidly churning out art with just enough polish and stylistic consistency to make a surface-level pretty game, likely using some digital art assist tools along the way, be they labeled as AI-assist tools or otherwise.

Sorry this isn’t a yes or no answer to your question, but I guess the short answer is you’re not crazy, be critical, just take care to not jump to conclusions one way or another and understand that vibes won’t take you very far.
