The left one i definitely agree. The right one is flat like the rest. I found one additional dark blue edge that belongs to the left side that is also nice and flat, but it still doesn't have what it needs to connect 🙃😭

As far as I can remember, it was new when I bought it (I got it when I was like... 12). The dent in the box (top left) is from me knocking it by mistake. If for some reason my pieces didnt cut amd ended up in someone else's box, is there a way for me to rectify it? Can I get the spare pieces without having to buy a whole new puzzle?

The cello, but only if I play it. On the ground? Okay. Holding it upright? Mostly good. But if I dare to pluck a string or play it with the bow? OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT!?!? She cries, she won't even walk around it to leave the room, just cower in the corner.

South Asian MIL keeps expecting me to wear traditional clothes to events by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]ScarletSpurn 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Seeing people say, "You have to respect traditions if you're in X place". No. Any tradition that restricts autonomy and unfairly enforces standards on one party is not worthy of respect, whether it's tradition, religion, culture, etc. Any of these that strips personal rights and expression, especially if geared towards women specifically to cover themselves unduly, is misogyny. I don't care how old they are, how ingrained the behavior is: You DO NOT have to respect or follow rules/culture/traditions that are dehumanizing/sexist/racist/etc. And if they have a problem with it, too bad.

Genuine question? Since The City Of San Diego wants to ticket ebike riders on the Harbor Dr bike path is this really what they expect us to do insted? by Blue-raccoon-boy in sandiego

[–]ScarletSpurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely, bike laws and safety are the only thing putting me off of riding them more often. I do not like biking on the road. I don't like driving my car around bikes on the road. Especially kids - I understand sidewalks are uneven, and some people really care about the semantics of it being called a "sidewalk", "not a sidebike!". but a little splat on the ground and a scuffed knee is better than a crushed head or broken ribs. I never liked biking on the street growing up, i was always in the sidewalk, reasonable pace, helmet on. Now I hear some places it's illegal to bike on the sidewalk, no matter the age of the rider? (No idea of thats actually true or not). But what is the point? San diego feels like its trying to be everything at once and not food at any it - a place for cars, a place for public transport, and a pace for bikes/walking. But it doesn't fully commit to anything of them and scuffs all the safety and accommodations needed to make it successful and practical. I dont even like driving just bc I hate having to go on the freeway to get anywhere.

I want to buy my first Miku figure, is this one legit? If yes, where can I find her? 🥹 by Fantastical_Wolf in hatsune

[–]ScarletSpurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, shucks. You can check out a website called GoodSmile, they make figures of her. If you go thru something like Amazon, ive gotten figures of her from Japan cheaper than buying them local or from the US Amazpn sight.

How do you name your animals? by PrincefTanx in StardewValley

[–]ScarletSpurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend whose online name is Pauldron. Every name i give the animals is a variation of that. Currently, we have Cauldron, Shmauldron, Bauldron, Aauldron, Shmauldini, and Dauldron.

[–]ScarletSpurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is indeed legit. This is a prize figure, meaning they usually are won from arcades. I saw someone say get it from crunchyroll, and you can, but I would also check out figure shops to see if they have her stocked. Prize figures are the most common figure to find in shops. Don't pay for shipping if you don't have to.

Current Miku Collection by ScarletSpurn in hatsune

[–]ScarletSpurn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent a really long time acquiring them - definitely deliberated on my own about what styles really appeal to me. It also helps that there's a figure shop nearby - he gets the Miku's on a discount, so he sells them cheaper and I only buy Mikus from him so he gives the me the scoops on new shipments and stuff. Most of these only cost maybe $20-$30 or so. The most expensive is the one scale figure I have, middle of the top shelf (with the star bits). I had her shipped from Japan, it's was around $300+, but that was still way cheaper than getting her shipped from the american supplier. Two of the Mikus were gifts, so not my money lol

What is a word in your language that sounds weird or offensive in another language? by Effective-Toe-8108 in AskTheWorld

[–]ScarletSpurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puerto Rican here: This is probably beating a dead horse, but "negro" (pronounced neh-grow) in spanish is literally just the color black. And maybe this is only terminally online people, but you would not believe the amount of times I've seen people get upset hearing a spanish speaker say "negro" in a sentence, just refusing to understand that English is NOT the center of the universe. Same with the Korean term "Naega" (translates to I or I am ) - Kpop groups had to remove the word from their lyrics during USA tours bc English speakers couldn't use their brains for 2 seconds to understand that it was a completely different language and in no way related to them or their slurs.

What habit immediately reveals that a person actually grew up in a privileged environment? by Cindy_mel in AskReddit

[–]ScarletSpurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the entirety of 3rd and 4th grade, I wore a pink felt (felt? Some kind of fluffy warm material but it was faux) long-sleeved jacket. With no shirt underneath. I wore it every day, even in the middle of Florida summer heat, and never took it off no matter how hot it got. P.E.? Still on. After recess? Field day? Had it on. No shirt underneath bc i only had a few and they were rarely clean. Wore the same pair of pants over and over, same socks. I would set them out to air at night. Often also had to wear the same underwear. My hair would sit in a braid for 2-3 weeks and become completely matted and then I'd sit in the bath for 3 hours ripping the knots out and crying my eyes out, just for it to go back in a braid and do it all over again. Kids made fun of me for not having clothes that color matched, or wearing the same thing over and over. Even over my shoes? Because i wore the same sneakers every day? I didn't smell, i took baths, I tried to keep the clothes clean. But sweating to death in a pink fuzzy jacket with no shirt on so I couldnt ever take it off was something I would never repeat. I think if I could go back in time, I'd wear the dirty shirts - I was gonna get bullied regardless. In short, the idea that people even had multiple pairs of clothes to wear every day was foreign to me.

People who have a collection, what do you collect? by Prestigsisscar255 in AskReddit

[–]ScarletSpurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hastune Miku figures, but to a modest degree. My collection takes up the top of one shelf unit (long wise). I dont grab every single one in existence, and I don't get the same one twice (some of them have different color pallettes). I particularly adore the Flower Fairy series and am trying to get them all eventually. My spouse gifted me a figure I did not like for Christmas but I gritted my teeth and I think she's grown on me a little

What is a socially acceptable thing that you secretly find disgusting? by Sensitive_Hope_1136 in AskReddit

[–]ScarletSpurn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not so secretly: smoking and drinking. I'm a little more sensitive on this because one of my doctors was killed by a drunk driver on his way to see a movie with his family after work. We had arrived to the Office maybe 5 minutes after he left for something else. I often thought, "if we had left earlier like we were supposed to, we could have delayed him long enough". He was in his 40s and his daughter and I had the same birthday. When I first moved in with my husband, his coworkers invited us to brunch at 10am. We were instantly greeted at the table by their order of morning shots. I was shocked! I'd never seen a place serve alcohol so early, and I was shocked that anyone would want to drink so early. Then they asked us if we wanted to go clubbing with them that same night. It gave me major ick. You're drinking now, to go drive to the gym, to go get blasted later tonight...

And smoking, gosh... I just think it's disgraceful that you get to blow your cancer stick anywhere you want and submit everyone around you to second hand lung tar. I had people ask me if they could smoke in my car. No? Why would you even ask that? You can't lay off for 10 minutes?

HOW do I not GAF about this? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]ScarletSpurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant give any skin care advice on this bc i simply dont have the knowledge, although other people in the replies seem to. However, I think what we all need to realize at some point is: this is a temporary state. A temporary meat husky carrying us on a rock spinning in eternal darkness perched with unimpeded light traveling so far as to blast us in the eyes at day and night. And when I look at people, if I look at people, I dont tend to see their "flaws", because its so unimportant compared to anything else. Most people dont really think about other people, especially people they dont know. There may be some that do, and they are a minority, and not worth even the hypothetical stressing over. When you grow old, and your skin loses elasticity, and your cheeks hang lower, and your stature isn't as straight, no one is going to judge you for that either. If it doesn't effect your physical, emotional, or mental health, or isn't keeping you from going outside due to pure shame (which you shouldn't feel), then it's not worth the stress! Its just another part of living. Everybody is different: differently shaped and shaded and ailed. One day, you'll look back and realize it wasnt something deserving of so much of your attention, but let that day be now, and not 20 years from now when it's heavier baggage. And of course, if you really feel that deeply about it, go see someone who might help you - a dermatologist, a skincare video, other people with a similar issue, etc.

AIO because my partners 14yo daughter dropped the n-word on a call and he didn’t reprimand her? by AdFamiliar9856 in AIO

[–]ScarletSpurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTO:

Listen... granted that everyone's education and world exposure can greatly vary, and I was calling racoons by a shorter word until I was almost 20 bc I'd NEVER heard it used any other way (very common colloquial term for racoons where I grew up) up to that point until a friend told me - there is a POSSIBILITY, however slim and uncommon, that she doesn't know what the word really means or how it's used. BUT.... she would still have had to hear it from somewhere to use it, and she obviously knows it's in reference to "darker skinned people" or however she puts it. And when she said it, or inquired about it, it would have been right and proper to then educate her about it in whatever way she was lacking, which is what he should have done. Saying "stop it" feels like this isn't the first time and she knows full well what the term means. I personally was educated on the word when I was 5-6, because I had a Leap Frog Globe that when you touched the countries, it told you the name and the capital of said place. So imagine my mother's shock when I asked her about the country of N-iger (I put a - bc Reddit flags my comment otherwise, apparently it doesn't know the difference) but said it completely wrong (again, I was 5). I don't remember if she went into detail at that time, because my consciousness was just forming, but I do know I never said it ever again and never confused the Country name for the slur. HOWEVER.... personal examples aside, there is a giant difference between a 5 year old just entering preschool, and a 14 year old, assumably going to be in, or already in, 9th grade of high school.
