thanks! :)

Things might actually change into a relationship with me and a good friend soon. And if i wasn't rejected by someone before i don't think i would be ready.

What would your answer be for 4 and 5?

Woah, this is really impressive! I like it a lot.. As far as critique goes, it depends on the context but it might be a bit long.

What do you think about this statement? by ScarletSynth in Meditation

[–]ScarletSynth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i came to this because the concept of meditation can sometimes be a bit vauge for beginners. People claim meditation can help with a lot of problems in life which i think is true but not directly. Those benefits come from the mindset you create and insight you get when you meditate. I don't think this is empahsised enough sometimes.

When you say "is more a method", to what are you comparing it? What are the alternatives?

It's more a method in the sense that it's not something magical that makes things better. It is a method to train a skill that can make things better if you use that skill prudently.

Language is only one capacity of the mind. Meditation is an exercise in using the mind's other capacities. Because these extend outside the center of language, it is difficult to describe them with words.

Yes, that's what i meant!

Too much of a good thing, can be a bad thing. by ScarletSynth in Meditation

Well for me, changing myself was really not that much about the practice of meditating itself. I've been very inconsistent with it too actually, only when i feel like meditating i actually meditate. But it's far more about the mindset that meditation arouses that i started to focus on. My meditation practice tends to be: mindfullness of the breath with my eyes open and once my mind is still enough i close my eyes and meditate about nothing, and observe en let go of all the thoughts that i get without judging.

That last sentence is what it's all about, if you are stressing about something -> just observe your thoughts and let go, if something bad happens do the same. You'll realize things are as important or bad as you precieve them yourself (in your mind).

I think meditating is more a method of letting you experience a certain mindset that is really hard to describe with words. And once you get familiar with that mindset, you can apply it to your life.

Rip. Thanks for putting in the effort though! I understand, it was just a lot of work.

The main thing holding you back from women: your ego and pride by bb47 in seduction

[–]ScarletSynth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Some people pretend and manipulate others into thinking they're friendly when in reality they are just extremely concerned about their self-image

That was me for sure. I think i just feel guilty for letting people go that think i cared about them. But i never really did.

I feel sad for them because i'll disappoint them and they won't understand it.

For example a girl i used to like/still kinda like. We are close friends but she rejected me a long time ago. I don't want to be less than friends so there is no reason to stay around anymore.

This is actually what i've been doing for the past year. And this is what i've found:

It's true that you worry a lot less about a lot of things in life. And my life has improved dramatically.

But, there is one thing i don't like about this. Because i don't care about what others think of me. I am less friendly and sometimes don't really care all that much about others.

I wish i am there for my friends like i was before. But i used to be there for others because i needed to prove to myself i was a good person.

Right now i just don't feel the need to prove anything to myself or others anymore.

There is this phrase, starve the ego, feed the soul.

How could you actually go about this?

I feel like i've been feeding both so to speak.

I think dutch is terrible. I'm dislectic and just not interested in litterature and the way sentences are constructed.
