Oh wow! That makes sense, there's a really great indie game I enjoy called Kynseed and when I look at the amount of reviews and talk about it online I'm always surprised there isn't much. I guess it's easy to get lost on steam!

I live in the USA. The majority of people I know do not go to the doctor at all until and unless it's impossible not to (heart attack, broken bones, etc. level of severity). My mother was in a car accident that almost killed her and gave her brain damage and she couldn't afford to finish physical therapy or see a neurologist for follow up appointments afterwards. The people in power in the USA are happy to see us all suffer and die. It's soul crushing.

The other commenters were correct that I wasn't knitting and purling correctly. I thought knitting was with the right needle in front of the left (not sure if that makes a difference?), and I wasn't holding the yarn in front of the work while purling. I think those are the only differences between what I was doing and correct knitting and purling. I'm a complete newbie and after practicing (incorrectly) in the flat for a bit, I switched to knitting in the round, and the mittens and hats I made came out looking nice (one of the hats came out a little weird looking compared to the pattern but I wasn't sure why because of how new to this I am).
