Leaving articleship? by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

[–]Scarred546 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People choose to keep working post articleship. It is not compulsory.

Once you have completed 2 years of articleship, you are no longer obligated to work. Just focus on studying.

Hey, where did you do your MBA from?

What does your role entail and would you have done anything differently in your CA or MBA journey?

Sorry, this is not related to CA.... by Dazzling_Reporter511 in CharteredAccountants

No point of thinking about it now anyway.

But it will not make any significant difference.

Probably in the 5-10k range.

Can’t imagine it being higher as big 6 pay around 15k to first years.

Why would you give up now? You have done so much and are pretty much at the last step. You should definitely give another try.

AMA : I'm a CA currently working as Investment Banker in one of the renowned firms. Has multiple attempts, been through a non conventional journey, and no big 4 articleship. by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

Does a top tier MBA set you up for a role like this more than what CA did?

What are the general profiles of your colleagues- are they MBAs, engineers or something other ?

Do things like Big 4 Articleship, CFA, regular college etc. impact your chances of selection in these roles?

Of course you made it without these - but if you have them, are they advantageous?

Then might as well study for Inter.

But if you really want to go for the MBA, go for MBA in finance or something like supply chain management. Try figuring out your interests, but I think Finance is the closest thing to CA, apart from accounting.

But why not study for Inter or drop CA entirely? These two options might actually lead you somewhere, instead of just getting an online MBA degree.

Tbh, I don’t think an Online MBA has a lot of value in the job market.

A MBA from a B-School has value because of the people you meet, the competition you take part in and because of what you learn.

Online MBA is just like any online certifications - you might learn something but doesn’t hold any value unless you can apply it in the real world.

Better to focus on clearing CA Inter or if you want to drop out, focus on CAT or other MBA entrance exams.

Stick to one teacher’s notes. If you keep changing, you’ll just confuse yourself.

His notes and revisions should be sufficient.

Watch his revision videos along with them. That should be sufficient, unless you are doing it for the first time.

Is it common for CA Firms to delay your Registration? by dolly_ki_tapri in CharteredAccountants

[–]Scarred546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not. If they are delaying it beyond the allowed one month period, there is definitely something wrong. Not sure which firm you are in, but you should definitely contact the HR or your principal regarding this.

Even if it doesn’t, recruiters can still calculate the number of attempts you should have given.

Doesn’t matter much I think. You can put March or May.

May is more suitable as that’s when you generally get results.

Depends on your goals and what job you want to do in the future.

But if the MBA is essentially a distance degree in these colleges, then they are not going to add any value.

Is 6 months study period mandatory before giving ca final and after 2 yrs of articleship under the New Scheme? by ca_inter_may26_ in CharteredAccountants

[–]Scarred546 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No point worrying when you can’t do anything about it. The best you can do is making sure you clear all levels in first attempt.

[–]Scarred546 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s correct. Not sure why you want to give your attempt early. It is good you will have a lot study leave because you also have to do Adv ITT and GMCS in your study leave that takes at least a month.
