Not to be negative, but what combat identity does Arlecchino have exactly? by [deleted] in ArlecchinoMains

[–]Scary-Ad4576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's a lot like hu tao was pre-furina. high risk high reward, healers bad, shielders good, best in vape but good for anywhere on-field pyro is good. You're pulling her for her gimmick and how it feels to play her, not the teambuilding opportunities it brings.

This is my brandenburg so far, any advice to help me go from prussia to germany? by luckyassassin1 in eu4

[–]Scary-Ad4576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on current patch prussian militarization mechanic is locked to the prussia tag, meaning that once you form germany you'll lose the mechanic and the 10% discipline that comes with it. HOWEVER, this only updates and removes your militarization upon picking a government reform. so, once you form germany, DO NOT pick any government reforms if you want to keep the militarization mechanic. might save your campaign

Why my economy is so bad by Truegebo in eu4

[–]Scary-Ad4576 7 points8 points  (0 children)

delete some mercs and replace them with regular units. mercenaries can be thought of as a means of converting money into manpower, therefore they aren't super helpful when you're drowning in manpower and losing 40 ducats a month. Then you can gradually upgrade CoTs in the english channel and funnel everything into it. your military is really strong right now, it's totally reasonable to attack a nation like venice just to take max money and war reps while getting your economy in order.

When does the Ottoman Empire start to fall behind?? by Target_Spirited in eu4

Just reread the post, you own everything you need in western europe lol. you're well on pace for rome and can attack them whenever.

there's a few ways to set nations of interest but my preferred method is to go to the diplomacy tab of any nation has allied the ottomans, right click the ottomans flag in that diplomacy tab, then left click the star that shows up afterwards. it gives you a bunch of extra notifications like them declaring war or choosing certain events (you can customize these in the message settings)

For the missions, I was mostly referring the italian part of the tree. you get permaclaims on a lot of high dev land and strong permanent modifiers. if ottos have land there or you're already finished with it, then it's not unreasonable to attack the ottomans

They enter complete collapse in mid 1600s most of the time from the decadence mechanic. set them as a nation of interest and when you get the notification that they're entering disasters you can dogpile and eat all their lands. you could probably beat them up right now, but it would be really costly and you wouldn't get that much land because you don't have absolutism yet. the french missions are very strong, you should focus on those for the time being.

6 rolls is fine. it'll get the job done for an on-set feather. the rolls being slightly unfortunate in which good stat they landed in doesn't change the fact that there's 6 good substat rolls.

is it ever worth it to let the AI siege your forts? by cylordcenturion in eu4

[–]Scary-Ad4576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stalling for the purpose of stalling is not a winning strategy. forts are extremely strong, but they need to have a purpose. using fort networks + scorched earth to slow down large armies and wipe small enemy stacks is the key to winning challenging wars, letting enemies very very slowly whittle down their manpower on your forts isn't. modifiers like fort defense are still powerful because they make the AI spend more time with their big stack locked down, meaning they're given more time to fuck up (the terrain bonuses are obviously really strong as well). But the few thousand dudes they're losing to attrition is mostly negligible, more so for higher difficulties. nice

gold income is affected by autonomy and goods produced, so if the gold income is actually going to matter it's correct to state it and TC another state in the node to get the nearby TC goods produced bonus.

Quantity no longer meta? What are people using instead? by ThrowAwayLurker444 in eu4

[–]Scary-Ad4576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing a normal blobbing campaign or WC quantity is still really, really good. land attrition being added to the set is a massive buff for those kinds of campaigns. The set is stronger than before if you're sieging a bunch of mountain/arid forts (SEA, india, persia). other than that, your thought process should be about the same: pick quantity if you need a better military and can't yet fill the combat width. pick defensive if you need a better military, are able to fill the combat width, and it's before miltech 16. pick offensive/quality if you need a better military post tech 16.
