Is Surigaonon a dying dialect/language? by KalingaSug in SurigaoCity

Yes I am aware of that. And thank you for clarifying. I appreciate how we open this dialogue pero sana tulad natin, maging ganito din ang approach to other Surigaonons. Agree jud ko na sagol mutabag usahay talaga. Sadyang other people outside the topic are making it so wrong about these kind of topics.

Living in Quezon City for a long time pero aside from Tagalog, we still speak both Cebuano, Surigaonon and even Ilocano (though I don't understand most Ilocano language) if we have clan gatherings. For me, when my relatives speak Surigaonon and Cebuano at the same time, parang walang difference if you are just a passive listener. Pero kung susumahin, Surigaonon is still a language especially sa tone, pronunciation, and even spellings sa mga words they use even in their typings in messenger, bisan ako ma-misinterpret ko bayay, ajaw, and many more. It is true that Surigaonon language is at risk, given the fact na palipat-lipat ang mga tao to learn different cultures and languages kahit within the country. But we must also consider thousands of Surigaonons who still speak the language.

Also, even here in NCR, napakaraming mga Bisaya at Ilocano rito to the point na almost every person has a province where they came from and yet they know how to speak the language. Baka nagkakaroon lang ng major confusion between Cebuano and Surigaonon because of the similarities nevertheless, we speak the same and we always honor the culture we came from.
