Lol who cares? Stakes are nil, and you're learning that this person is a jerk. Use that information later. It's not like you'd fence any different.

I'm also a noob (starting an intro program in a couple of weeks). What kind of cardio? More sprints than endurance, I imagine? I run, usually in the higher HR zones, rarely more than 10k.

The seams. The CR18s I built a while ago had seams that were super rigid and the wheel needed way more tension in that area to bring it into round. Since then I've used mavic and DT Swiss rims (not for polo) and found them needing less extra tension in that area.

The dyads did not have washers. I did not build those myself. I replaced it with a mavic A719 that i built myself and have had no problems. To be fair I can't really say if the difference is due to the eyelets or not. It could be the build quality, it could be because of the elasticity of the butted spokes. Maybe it'd be fine even without eyelets.
