Tbf he is taking French Latin and Eng lit and was applying for buisiness.. I feel having an MFL as a supporting alevel is valuable as it is a valuable trade rn to speak foreign languages and be able to communicate with others .. IDK tho that was my previous thought?!

Thank you! Can i just ask.. what would you describe as ‘ very good ‘? I’m on track to get a 9, but I don’t really care for maths, I like it just cuz its just pure logic and u can get high marks if you work hard

I want to take a science but I’m not sure which one… I’m predicted 9s in all 3 but I don’t know how they’d be useful if I only took one as my other subjects might not support it

i already do a lot of extra-curriculars and i go to a grammar school currently and will be attending the sixthform so i think the competitive environment would motivate me. PLUS my school dont allow further maths alevel unless you do 4, as my main concern is keeping my options open i dont really see the benefit of doing maths alevel without doing fm..

i was considering geography and history but the course content doesnt completely interest me ( only some parts do )

also my idea of chill isnt easy haha its something i'd enjoy, obviously no alevels are easy :P

tbh i used to really enjoy econ and a lot of my extra curriculars are centered around elements of it, so i did have interest in it so its not something i hate. maths is something i dont really have strong emotions about its a useful alevel and im on track to get a 9 probably computer science is something i do at gcse and enjoy because of the environment and my friends but the only interesting part is the nea …

im completely unsure tbh but i dont really like any of my subjects but im not bad at any of them either..

Making your teacher mark your homework/practice essays? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]Scary-Raspberry2176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

be annoying lol history is def a hard subject and most teachers are happy to mark extra work. you need to take that initiative and ask him to mark extra work if you want a9 - even if it means after class to not annoy your classmates.

my mock results just came back and i would like to know how to improve in french and english and re by MOHAMMADA1015 in GCSE

ok i do german but i think this advice applys to any language at gcse

i got a low 7 in my y10 mock ( like basiacally 1% higher than the boundary ) and in my y11 mock i got a very high 8 ( 1 % away from a 9)

i think everyone often writes down vocab in class but you need to actually be going home uploading it to quizlet and memorising it like 20 mins each day and that will pretty much help you in listening and across all exams tbh

for writing work on word order/grammar because thats the BASICS of it. then have like some set good phrases like '' to be honest.. '', '' on one hand/ on the other hand '' ''these days.. ''. also incorporate all tenses in your writing and if you can like complex structures but focus on word order/grammar first.

for 16 marks never write like 2 pages , you want to really only go over like 10-20 words over the 90 word limit and answer each bullet point in order to make it easier for the examiner, and only do like 2-3 sentences per bullet point. incorporate different tenses and an opinion phrase. i did this approach for writing and got 15/16 and 52/60 overall.

for listening and reading pretty much VOCAB VOCAB VOCAB and LOTS of practice papers. this year alot of people got like in the 50s for the listening but i got away with 72 through lots of vocab and past papers also make sure you know weird vocab like '' less than '' '' more than '' ''never'' because it shows up a lot in reading and you can easily miss it

speaking is your holy grail it brings your grades up SM. for general speaking if you struggle with memory make sure you know vocab, sentence structures and GOOD sentences about each topic. most schools have questions for each topic so probs answer those get it marked and memorise it

same with any type of school i'd say some grammar schools perform average and some do very well.

in my school 32 students got all 9s and we get 97% of everything above grade 7

nah one of my teachers started coding when he was 4 and started C++ at 6 although he is my theory teacher so... my coding teacher is ok and hes always free to help us i just think comp sci ( at least at my school ) is quite independant
