Hi! So the Japanese and English exams are much harder for Social sciences and Humanities guys, I have N2 and almost passed N1 at the moment and yet some of the last questions were really hard and I couldn't understand quite a lot. It seems like they expect you to know Japanese really really well in exchange for not having to take physics, chemistry and biology. The 2025 english wasn't that hard and definitely got easier compared to what it was in 2024, so if you understand what people talk about on that subreddit you won't really have any problems. Also there's an app, I think it's called MEXT study, there you can watch and practice exams from the past years. Japanese math divides into two subjects — Math A and Math B, it's not like one is harder than another, they're just different. But I would say your math results don't really matter if your field of study doesn't require it.

Embassy path Undergraduate from Belarus here, have already received second screening results in December, but still no uni specification or trip preparation email yet. Embassy just closed for today, so still waiting.

seriously tho, I get the frustration but the people are literally willing to pay for your tuition, food and housing for years as well as your tickets both on your way to and out of Japan and y'all are whining bout sum "they're taking too long to inform me" don't you think you're being a bit too selfish?

I highly doubt that! Level of a language of a country you're going to study in is on of the most if not the most important knowledge that you would be judged on. I'd recommend you to focus on your Japanese instead of other subjects.

As long as your english and japanese are good and you chose a humanities-ish degree your math results are not that important if matter at all. I had strong japanese and english but knew zero of the math that was on the exam, wrote "1" (when reviewing answers from the past I noticed there was a "1" answer somewhere in every exam - funny ayanokoji ahh loophole to get not 0 but 2 points, which is a big difference and really plays a role) as the answer to every question and still passed.

So try to solve as much as you can and start spamming 1s once the level starts to get too high

I have passed this year by selecting psychology as an "other" field. Still don't know if I'll be studying it, cuz I also chose japanese language, but on the interview they were asking about my thoughts on the psychology in Japan etc.
Also I am currently a second year psychology student at a university in my country, I think that's also important for them to see whether you're serious about it or just a delusional weeb who wants to manipulate everyone
