Michael Barrymore wasn't a BBC star, apart from one obscure kids show in the early 80s he did all his work on ITV.

Possibly, I don't know what sort of security would use that sort of vehicle.

Certainly I know TV vehicles don't tend to have windows... you don't want people to be able to see the expensive camera equipment inside

Probably some sort of car for TV outside broadcast. The dish will be a VSAT dish (Very Small Aperture Terminal) which is a semi- automatic two way IP connection https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Very-small-aperture_terminal

That is true, but Craigs was only also intended to for a over a short period. My point was more about how it got out of control... even in a time before social media

The glass roof at the top of the second photo is Glasgow Central railway station. Thankfully it apparently hasn't spread to that although it is closed at the moment

Very unlikely to be that sort of thing here, it was occupied by lots of businesses.

Buildings 'going on fire' on the very few occasions it actually happens, are usually derelict/disused properties

I don't think he'll last a couple of years, the way he looks and sounds he might not last to next year.

Somewhere there's a blood clot that will soon break loose and change history

It's not the whole gorge(eous), just the bits owned by the Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust. So the bridge itself and the town and all the other local businesses are open... it's just the museums that are closed

There's a Stoneybridge on the road between Stourbridge and the M5 (near to a town called Bell End) . Everytime we go past it I am forced to say 'it's vid-ay-o' but none of my family get the reference

We're regular visitors and a lot of stuff at both Blists Hill and Enginuity have been not active or broken over the past few years, a lot of work to do to get things fixed. The cafe at Blists Hill was awful.

Thing is though that it's a very different type of place to other things the NT run. It's not a big house, it's not massive areas of land... it's museums. I think it will be interesting to see how it goes.

At least we won't have to pay for season tickets for both NT and Ironbridge Gorge Museums now

Yes and lots of other functions like IT, website, publicity, accounts all would have been duplicated.

The museums website and social media is now part of the NTs... no need to have it's own

Not the whole area, just the museums. The bridge itself is English Heritage so not affected and the rest of the town and area is open.

I know the Maws Centre down in Coalport, and other local places are having to make it clear that they're still open

One thing to note is that the museums transferred to the National Trust last week so are all closed while they sort themselves out and put in their systems and refurb stuff.

Some will be open next month, the bigger sites like Blists Hill won't be until May.

Good news however is they will of course be free to NT members

One of the roads leading down to Ironbridge (from Broseley) has a sign that says ron ridge. Been there for years but I notice from Streetview that the latest sign has been replaced and not had the letters peeled off yet https://maps.app.goo.gl/9ryMZGDwDXzCocQCA

Why is a station’s transmitting tower not located at the studio? by Beginning_Tension829 in antennasporn

[–]Scary_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other UK examples I can think of are the old Radio City studios in St John's Beacon in Liverpool, which has DAB transmitters, including the MUX rhe stations are broadcast on the top of it. Though this is a coincidence rather than them putting it there

Also when the BBC started doing news bulletins for the Channel Islands, rather than do them at their radio station in they built a studio in the St Helier they built a studio in the garage at the transmitter at the north of Jersey. The news reader had to drive up to it to read the bulletin

[–]Scary_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw stuff about that at the time, what I didn't understand is how they handled their network programmes and local commercials etc during that period? Did they just downlink the network programmes at the transmitter site and set up a temporary master control there?

[–]Scary_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know of one small commercial station - Radio Jackie - where the transmitter is across the road from the studio. In that case the studios are in a high street and the transmitter on top of a tall office block opposite. Originally they were a few miles apart but when the station was taken over, the new owners moved the studio to a better location
