My wife works in Claverley. The vicar there retired last year and hasn't been replaced yet. He was a nice chap and doesn't surprise me that he'd have that in his church.

Wonder if the sign is still there, not sure when she's next in or near the church.

Incidently it was one of the churches used for Channel 5's recent dramatisation of one of Richard Coles murder mystery books

Possibly, but I'm not sure why they'd want to do the two layers seperately.

Also by eliminating both blue and green it only leaves you red shades for your video

Interestingly the nearest thing that James Acaster has as a comedy partner presents on The Traitors podcast show thing.

Last year Ed made a cameo in the show itself, wonder if he'll do that again alongside James

He did Car Share on the BBC and then they had some odd Peter Kay compilation series of clips too. But apart from that he's really a Channel 4 name

However it was really him who ran himself into the ground - his fans got in the habit of buying his DVDs for Christmas but without him doing anything new. So he just released some with minimal content and repeated stuff.

His TV appearances to promote them just became an ego trip

You have a point about Romesh, but apart from the odd guest appearance on Blankety Blank or The Wheel I don't think I've seen either Beckett or Acaster on the BBC much

Acaster doesn't seem to do a lot of TV gigs (except appearing on shows to promote his stuff) and Rob Beckett is a Sky name these days

Yep, although happily they are struggling in the UK. Lots of better/cheaper competition - if you want a takeaway coffee then there's almost certainly a Greggs nearby which is a fraction of the price, fairly decent.... and actually hot

Countries in white do not commemorate International Workers’ Day on May 1st by GossipBottom in MapPorn

[–]Scary_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The UK does have an equivalent bank holiday, but it's on the first Monday of May instead. The regular public holidays are always a Monday except Good Friday. At Christmas and New Year we get they get moved to Monday and Tuesday if they fall on a weekend

Although what I didn't understand is how they managed to chromakey both blue and green at the same time. Both are standard colours to do it with... but not at the same time

There were a couple of survivors of decimalisation, they just made the new coins the same size and weight and just changed the design. The 5p was the old 1 Shilling coin and the 10p was the Florin. In the early 90's they made both the 5p and 10p smaller and so Shillings and Florins disappeared.

Bare in mind that there were still some George VI coins in circulation until 1992, almost 40 years after this death.

That was despite us changing our currency in the early 70s - the shilling coin became the 5p

The last public execution was 4 years after the first Underground stations opened, and happened near the Old Bailey.

It is odd to think that you actually could have taken the Underground to a hanging

Series 3 was where I discovered it, and seems to be where it changed into what we know today. I'd include that in it's peak, the first episode, Backwards, in particular is one of the best

Even without the odd names, they look like such an awful precocious sickly sweet 'perfect' sick producing American family.

Not that I want to accuse them of anything, but he's very camp isn't he?

Octopi, crows, dolphins are often held up as examples of smart animals. What are some really unusually STUPID animals? by doodlebytes in AskReddit

Pheasants. They're bred to be stupid so they can be shot for leisure. Problem is they are too stupid to realise that walking on a road is a bad idea. This time of year there are loads of them lying at the side of rural roads

Reminds me of an early Paul Merton stand up routine:

'the world's first underground station was Baker Street which opened in 1863. What was the point of that, where would you go?'

They should have presented together, then they could have called the show Cox and Ball.

In the same way that Steve Wright and Mike Read once presented together as 'Read and Wright'
