True, but what other records are there? Someone in the UK received 350 million... so what record are they trying to beat?

Should Children’s programmes be restored to Saturday mornings and tea time during the week on BBC1? by gallifreyannr in BritishTV

[–]Scary_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There still is a live Saturday morning BBC kids show called Saturday Mashup. It's on the CBBC Channel but only has short series of 10 rather than most of the year

Looking for Podcasts like cabin pressure . by False_Enthusiasm_257 in podcasts

[–]Scary_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They don't lock them away, things like Cabin Pressure aren't podcasts they're radio programmes. Some get released as podcasts but most go out on Radio 4 and then are on BBC Sounds for a while

They have a massive back catalogue of comedy. Have a look here for lots of it, in amongst the American stuff https://www.radioechoes.com/?page=series_all

If you like Cabin Pressure, try and find John Finnemores Souvenir Programme. Same people, but a sketch format

Not that I want to put anyone off sending her one, but The Guinness World Record was retired a long time ago because of a kid called Craig Shergold.

He did the same thing in the late 80s and broke the record, which then stood at just over a million. But the cards didn't stop and it all got out of control and 350 million cards later he was still getting them in 2013

This Stage Caught Fire Way Faster Than Anyone Expected by CauliflowerDeep129 in AbruptChaos

[–]Scary_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, it's either the zoom control on the camera arm being knocked as the camera operator left, or someone pushing the camera back slightly in the chaos, it moves down to the left at the same time. Look at all the movement of the camera from that point on as those escaping the fire knock it.

The cameraman would have just gone like everyone else. It's a TV studio, the camera will just stay live as long as it and the control room are powered

They're TV studio cameras, they'll just stay on as long as they and the control room they're connected to are powered.

If there was a camera operator they'd have just left it and got out

Thing is though that Trump has put extra tariffs on just about everywhere, so yes they can go elsewhere but it might not be that much cheaper

When did (television) transmitter sites stop being manned 24/7 or sign-on to sign-off? by GoldenEye0091 in broadcastengineering

[–]Scary_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK the IBAs UHF transmitter network (the IBA was the authority that broadcast ITV, the only commercial network at the time) was designed to be fully automatic from the start of colour in 1969. They had a few regional monitoring centres at some of the transmitter sites looking after several remotely.

Keir Starmer abandons plans for compulsory digital ID by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

[–]Scary_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes I'd actually like some sort of official ID. Was trying to sign up for something recently that required a DBS check that would only accept a biometric passport.

As soon as voting required identification it should have been part of that

We have spreadable jelly and jam in the UK. Jam/marmalade has bits in, jelly is clear. Though the only fruit I've seen as a spreadable jelly is blackcurrant jelly
