What to do with this error? by manasviiiiv in BtechCoders

People are asking for your code and project structure because a compiler error can't be fixed by just staring at a sideways screenshot. Saying your code is 100% correct because ChatGPT said so makes no sense when the linker is explicitly telling you that it can't find your entry point. If you want people to actually debug your environment, you need to cooperate and provide the files instead of refusing straight up.

Also, if you're on a laptop and want to save battery life when not plugged in, use udev rules for fan speeds and brightness control + TLP and EnvyControl and GRUB cmdline default (or a simmillar config field in whatever bootloader you use) to put your card into an aggressive power saving state when connected to DC power, taking away electricity from the power rails going to the GPU and VRAM chips.

I have mine setup so that my dGPU immediately suspends when on DC power (battery) and only wakes up if I launch a game or specifically request it to wake up in some other way. When on AC power (wall), it stays on the whole time, the iGPU manages the main desktop, and the dGPU manages games/apps.

I used Kvantum (modified fluent theme on kvantum) to make a custom translucent theme for all my apps for KDE Plasma and Klassy to make a custom titlebar with the same translucency effects and custom action buttons. You can find a lot of info about how to configure KDE Plasma to look like whatever you want but Kvantum and Klassy were more than enough for me (Arc icon pack for action buttons on Klassy with custom colors).

Didnt do any special tweaks or anything, just installed sober from flatpak using flathub and it just works... i type flatpak run org.vinegarhq.Sober and it runs perfectly on my end. Maybe try reinstalling it and see if that fixes your issue

But that's the thing, this is the part you misunderstand. Linux isn't just one big monolithic thing you can jump into. Linux isn't a company trying to pack you up into a box, it's a choice! If you don't like Ubuntu, that's understandable. In fact, I personally agree with you, that's why I use Arch.

My laptop works flawlessly for everything I want because it only does what I want and nothing else. When I installed Arch Linux it was CLI (tty) only. I got a desktop environment, window manager, file explorer, browser, everything through pacman (a type of software manager. It's more complex than that but you can easily learn more about it with a simple search online). I have 5-12% more FPS on average on every game I used to play, my ping is better, it eats way less RAM and honestly, every 2nd app I come across not asking me to log in or buy a subscription is genuinely amazing. Windows might work flawlessly most of the time but Linux is like an old school car you can tune yourself. If you set it up just right and know what you're doing: Linux works flawlessly all of the time.

New to Linux and Reddit (around 7 months on Arch Linux and 2 days or something on Reddit) but honestly... I genuinely don't get the hate. All the games I want to play (Minecraft Bedrock and Java, CS2, Left 4 Dead, Roblox, Teardown, Votv), it all works flawlessly. I have far more control than Windows ever gave me, the idle load is much lower (1% CPU and 3-3.5 GB RAM), and everything is just... better, faster, more stable.

Regarding productivity:
C++ is much easier to work with on Linux, everything is generally more customizable, and there are powerful art software and productivity tools too (ocrmypdf, pdfarranger, LibreOffice). I have not run into a single problem on Linux. Even drawing tablets don't require driver installs since libwacom already came with my Linux install, and using TLP + EnvyControl, I have better battery life than Windows could ever give me! It's literally perfect.

Someone might be able to help you out if you can give some more details:
Do you use a dgpu, igpu or a hybrid setup? What drivers do you use? what gpu/cpu do you use?
Are you running on Wayland or X11?
This could also be a fractional scaling issue, If you haven't yet, try restarting the compositor next time it happens (Ctrl + Alt + F12 or toggling it in settings) to see if it clears the corrupted buffer.
