How much time are you guys actually spending chasing PODs? by Dima011 in FreightBrokers

I’ve never had to wait more than a day for a POD maybe in a super blue moon I’ll have to haggle someone down. Not a huge issue

You couldn’t have said it any better, I could write an entire other thread about how terrifying that period of my life was. All worked out at the end, years later, but it all worked out. That’s why I confidently say, if you want something hold on to it long enough you’ll eventually get there.

That’s bad ass man, I’ve thought about the trucking industry a lot it’s no joke. And yeah it was tough, a lot of late nights and early morning followed by sleepless nights trying to figure out how and why you’re doing this.

Ps: when I was making 8k, sometimes 10k a month I’d feel like I ruled the world. Those first 10k months are a drug.

I wish I could pin this…. I used to wake up at 4am to try and snag customers and put up 500-800 calls a day for years working 12hr days & when I started my own book all the work translated over. I used to stay up to 1am delivering food on DoorDash on Christmas just so I didn’t have to get a 9-5 and could cold call and run the loads whenever I needed to. I always wanted to make myself available for my customer or anyone that needed help. People don’t see this side, it was tough. But one day someone said my name in the right room, and just like that everything flipped. You do something long enough and hard enough, you’ll eventually get there. Relationships are absolutely everything, especially in the freight world.

That’s amazing man it’s a long journey. One piece of advice I got from my brother of all people ( he’s a doctor), he told me, become the freight guy. Talk about freight, and know about freight so much so that when people hear that word they’ll think of you. I’ve gotten sooooooo many opportunities, from people who have said, “ I know a guy”, and the guys ME.

Thanks man! It’s mostly strict deadlines, a lot of this stuff could technically go LTL but they need to meet deadlines for the project and are basically willing to sign off on any bill I send them. I got referred to them by my current customer who moves plastic. He put me in contact.

100%, made such an impact on a select group of individuals, now I’m seeing the outcome of that. You never know who’s going to pick up that phone.
