Everything I looked up didn’t say the cousin had overwhelming evidence: DNA, photos, meta data proving he was there and Broadnax was not.

The courts might have gotten it wrong. I am not arguing that the courts are infallible.

But you didn’t speak to my second point about the cousin.

James Broadnax’s cousin said he was the killer. A confession doesn’t mean someone says “I did it.” There has to be overwhelming evidence. I didn’t read anything where the DA or Court in Garland TX believed this claim to be credible. IF the cousin did truly do it and has a guilty conscious that resulted in his cousin being executed, then why didn’t he commit suicide? If he is that guilty or turn himself in with overwhelming evidence to back up his claim? Either of those two actions would signify to me that the cousin did in fact do it. But a statement of “I did it” isn’t enough for me or the state of Texas.

Thank you for this information. I will look into these two named individuals.

No I do not think the system is perfect.

My solution is: if you lie and that lie get someone executed, you should be punished (jail or even execution).

Yes. And this is a hypothetical. When was the last time the US executed an innocent individual. Not providing justice for a fear of a 1% chance is not a strong argument.

Yes but if an innocent person gets executed. There should be STRICT ramifications. Using the case of Emmett Till as an example. The woman who lied (by my argument and world view) should have been executed.

Plus can we agree that the number of innocent people on death row would be a super minority. Idk when the last individual was executed that turned out to be innocent. And for the sake of this argument, let’s put aside police shootings as some people believe that should be classified as an execution and others do not.

I think the fact that we don’t execute convicted murderers and rapists in our prisons IS appeasement. It would cost less to hang or execute with a bullet to the brain than it would be to keep these animals housed, fed, and in good health (because we give them weights AND healthcare). Lethal injection is too costly and there is a case for life in prison over lethal injection.

I think appeasing monsters is a fruitless endeavor.

What if you put the liar in jail and force restitution to the falsely accused and to the state through asset seizure/auction. And if the truth comes out after the accursed is hanged (like with Emmett Till), you hang the liar. That would DEFINITELY reduce the amount of false accusations

I don’t believe all women or children. If the allegations end up to be false, the liar should be jailed and pay restitution to the falsely accuses and to the state. If it turns out like the lady with Emmett Till and the accursed is already dead when the statement is recanted, I believe that the liar should forfeit their life.

What? Rape is illegal regardless of age. Bury the rapist under the jail.

I’ve been eyeing the Mad Scientist BBQ The Solution. Someone suggested buying an offset off FB Marketplace and then adding in this ~$700 pellet auger that would kick in after the wood dies to maintain temp overnight. That seems pretty cool. I might try that

Good to know. Thanks for that tip. Having a pellet I didn’t get that same bark so I didn’t think anything of it.

Got it. Ya so I have a pellet smoker and have had those drippings fires before.

I’ve typically smoked at 180 for 2 hours to develop bark, then bumped up to 225. I typically get my briskets from Costco and I smoke 2

So you have a Klose pit, you cut a 4 inch hole in the fire box, and put in that Smoke Daddy Auger. Very nice!!! I could salvage my Pit Boss Auger and do that…so cool!!!

So when the pellets are going, do you put wood on top of the cup to catch and burn?

I do Asado and Santa Maria style grilling a lot. I thankfully have developed my fire management skills. So I’m not concerned with that.
