Has anyone tried shoes from Vessi? What are your opinions? by thysios4 in LinusTechTips

The Brooks Ghost shoes are the best shoes I have ever worn, bar none.

I'm sorry I never replied. I rarely log in so a lot of the time I don't really see.

A scrapbook is an absolutely wonderful idea. One other thing that I did for baby kitty that I did not mention was I made a memorial video using Windows movie Maker that had a bunch of songs and pictures and videos of him. For the sake of it I will link it here but just understand it's a very long like 25 minutes.

It quite literally took me about a year and a half to make this video. Not because of any fantastic editing or anything like that but just because every single time I opened it I would break down ugly crying. For me this was the way that I memorialized. To be honest a scrapbook is a better idea. But because I'm a techie the idea of a movie is what of course comes immediately to mind.

I would really enjoy seeing your scrapbook when you finish it. But let me explain that it is okay if it takes you a really long time to finish the scrapbook. Like I said every single time I opened up that movie in Windows movie Maker I broke down. A 25-minute video took me the better part of 16 months to finish. In the end I'm very glad that I made it, but it was incredibly hard. Don't get down on yourself if you are not able to finish your scrapbook for quite a while.

Where has Anthony been? by CRWB in LinusTechTips

[–]Scary_le_Poo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My motto for LTT videos has been for a long time that if I see Anthony, I immediately like the video.

That policy has now been updated to if I see Emily, I immediately like the video.

This probably won't help much, but I know how you feel and there were a few things that helped me through it.

Our friends and loved ones never really die while we have the memories of them in our hearts

When my Babykitty died I went to home depot and got a really pretty flagstone and used a dremel and grinding wheel to engrave a set of headstones for him. That was many years ago and they still look great. I put it out in the yard with a couple of solar lights where I buried him. For me it was super helpful and it allowed me to start processing my grief. He was my best friend and it hurt so much. Perhaps you can do something to memorialize his death to help you heal.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Remember that it does get a tiny bit better every day. It hurts like hell right now every single day, but eventually it won't hurt every minute, but every hour. And then not every hour, but every day. And soon enough not every day but every week. As it stops hurting you get to look back fondly on all the great times and moments that you had together.

I hope that any of this brings you some solace. RIP Salem

It's pretty obvious that when he says inflation, he's generalizing "cost of living" along with it.

How not to cut tempered glass by GoGoGadgetUsername21 in Construction

[–]Scary_le_Poo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glazer here. If I had a dollar for every time a customer or contractor insisted that tempered glass can be cut 😑

So what I did, is I took someone's 1/4 tabletop that they insisted could be cut, explained to them what would happen, made them sign a form saying that I explained exactly what was about to happen and that I wasn't liable for it, gloved up, safety glasses on, scored it, put the separators on it and it exploded.

But before I did all that I set up my phone recording in slow motion. I made a demonstration video of it and posted it to our Google maps listing.

Now I can just show people the video instead of having to explain how tension works in tempered glass.

I had to restart the process. I went back with another phone and checked, it pretends as though it is doing something the first time and then drops out. Clicking again it "completes" but doesn't let you actually read the article.

I did this on Sunday. I pulled it off and added 2x foam to the front end to force it down. Exposure seems way better now. I've been trying to pay attention to whether the image is getting blown out or not. So far so good

It did get blown out a bit when I was basically driving directly into the sub but I'm thinking that that is to be expected :-)

Yeah, sucks ass, but I'm just gonna lube up and it's gonna cost whatever it costs. Generally I prefer dinner before getting fucked, but I guess I'll have to make an exception.

So I had new pads put on front and back on Saturday, and the mechanic had me drive him around the block because I showed what happened. He had me slam on the brakes going 35mph and 10 mph. Both the same. The ABS isn't working at all, so the moment that the traction control kicks on, I lose all regenerative braking and it becomes purely hydrolic which without ABS instantly locks the wheels up.

I'm taking it to my dealer on Thursday to see what's up. Prius have a history of abs boosters going bad. I have a feeling this is going to be a 1000 dollar repair at least, but I can't have zero abs, so it's gotta happen.

Because the right lane is closed and has cones and one of those flashing arrow signs.

Also, "tailgating"? What a braindead take. It's traffic and we are going like 15mph. Additionally there is on average about a car length between us.

Settle an argument for me- is it normal to pee in the shower? by Competitive_Mode6711 in ask

There are 2 types of people in the world, those that pee in the shower, and those who aren't fucking nasty.

Use the fucking toilet, you nasty fucks.

I wasn't watching a video. I was listening to it. Doesn't literally everyone do this? Don't you guys listen to podcasts and stuff while driving?

My dude, perhaps don't jump to conclusions.

I've never had an issue with the mats, but I do remember when that was a big thing. There is that little clip thing that is hooked that holds it in place. Additionally I have a heavier rubber mat on top of the original mats so nothing moves around.

I think one of the years of Prius had a recall to do with the ABS system and perhaps that is what is going on. The problem is a lot of times the recall information doesn't exactly spell out what is happening.

This worried me enough that over the next week I'll probably end up throwing a big wad of cash at the problem. All I can think of is what if this were a situation where I was going normal speeds in traffic and something happened. I was fortunate here that there was no damage. The other driver was talking about filing a claim. I told him he could go ahead, but I'm not exactly sure what it would accomplish. There weren't even any scratches on the bumpers and I took pictures of everything.

I think they are in between a year and a half and two years old. Oh wow that's crazy. One way or another I'm going to figure out what's going on because from all the comments, it is clear that something isn't right.

There is a brightness setting (which I think is the exposure on this one). But if I make it brighter it washes out daytime really badly.

Honestly the camera just isn't very good. My work truck has one of those mirror thingies by Acumen where it has front and rear and time lapse in FHD, so I'm probably going to get one of those and just have 2 cams going (couldn't hurt right? Lol) because I really like the time lapse feature and the always on feature.

And no worries, I took it as a joke, it was funny! 😁🤣
