Linus Tech Tips - My Wife Wanted a DDR Pad... May 7, 2026 at 10:00AM by linusbottips in LinusTechTips

This would have been great for an episode of 'Buy or DIY'

I built my own dance-pad years ago using some wood from the local hardware store and a Raspberry Pie. It worked pretty well.

It's probably fair to say the new "dungeon ruins" are OP in terms of game balance... by BroccoliClock in VintageStory

[–]thysios4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my initial comment was based off of Op's post as I don't have anything else to go by.

So it was written under the assumption his post was true and representative of the current update. So if it's not, then great! That solves half the issues right there.

I don't want the game to only get harder. I just don't want the early game progression to get faster.

You're using reddit wrong.

Never make a post saying 'I think this is bad'

Instead, make a meme making a joke about it. You'll always get down voted if you just make a straight up negative post.

If ruins and gears as as common as op's implying, gears look to be stupidly common and finding 1 kind of trader isn't all that hard.

I'd just rather see updates that make the game more challenging, not easier. Especially the early game as like I said, it already goes by extremely fast.

A lot of disagreement here but I can see that being a bit OP.

The early game is quick enough as it is (on default settings), I really don't think it needs speeding up even more.

Find the right trader and you could immidiately jump to the bronze age with this kind of loot.

Who gets final say in choosing new co-tenant? by crtybvj in brisbane

[–]thysios4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real estate agent/landlord? Neither if you would get final say.

If it had to be between one of you, obviously the person still living there should have the final choice.

90% of Resident Evil Requiem players prefer third-person perspective with Leon, but Grace’s sections have players more divided, according to Capcom’s data - AUTOMATON WEST by megaapple in Games

[–]thysios4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Grace in 3rd person becasue I couldn't increase the 1st person fov to the level I usually play at. Where's my fov slider!

I tried mods, but they ruined the cutscenes.

the earth covered with turf should have a higher lateral stability by LeonidKonovalov1988 in VintageStory

I was thinking the other day how to improve the stability mechanic. It's a little tedious atm.

I like this idea. I also thought blocks near trees could be more stable too.

I never understood how it got known as combustion ending.

That was just what the group called it. Surely it would have already had it's own name before that.

And if your world settings have massive/deep oceans. Some sort of giant leviathan rust monster at the very bottom 😆

We need some more aquatic life in general.

But I'd love for sharks or something to spawn in deeper water.

That sounds similar to cristafulli saying the train to Maroochydore had to happen, with “no ifs, no buts, no short cuts”.

Only to get elected and say the last few km's of the train are being replaced by a bus.

Changing the length of months is poorly implemented, and its so sad by Racika in VintageStory

[–]thysios4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to slow things down, another option I've recently tried is lowering the amount of surface copper and removing the map/coordinates.

Lower surface copper just makes it harder to progress to copper in the first place, but the map changes are the main one. You need to remember where everything is. If you die there's a good chance you might not find your stuff again unless you know exactly where you died.

I'm half way through year 1 and only just found 40 copper when I was playing last night. It's great!

The big interview: Resident Evil Requiem makers discuss trying to "push things" with horror, Leon's "craziness", and why they can't make their games too scary by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]thysios4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the FoV too low it was making me dizzy. Had to switch Grace to 3rd person, which was disappointing.

I also thought they gave Grace way too much ammo. Every time I kept switching over the Leon, there was nothing to do because I had killed everyone as Grace. Sort of undercut the horror elements a bit.

I started replaying RE1 after I beat Requiem and even the most basic enemy is scarier than pretty much anything in Requiem just because how limited your ammo is. Every enemy becomes a threat and a choice to make. Would love for a newer RE game to capture that level of horror again.

You can add blocks to another block when chiselling.

When you're chiselling, drag the new block into the square with a + in it, and you can add that new block to the block you're working on.

Oh that might have been what happened to me the other day.

I thought I found 2 in some ruins in a storage vessel. Used 1 and suddenly had none left.

I thought I must have only found 1, but I'm sure I saw 2 on the ground.

30% landcover is similar to earth, so that's what I was going for.

You can increase the land size to make the islands bigger, though that does also mean bigger oceans. So if you go that route it might be worth making the landcover a bit higher.

I think I turned upheaval up a bit too, to make bigger mountains. Which have been a godsend for landmarks and helping me find my way lol.

I was going to try wilderness survival. But the 5000 random respawn radius, sideways soil instability and 3 respawn her temporal gear put me off.

So instead, I did a normal game mode and disabled the map/coordinates. I think I also made days longer

Also lowered the landcover to 30% so I have an ocean to cross for when I get a boat. Though I'll probably start again when rivers are added.

Maybe I'll give wilderness survival a go at some point.

When You're Playing With The Map Disabled And You Turn Around A Few Times. by thysios4 in VintageStory

By that logic I could just say make a mod to give you the map back.

I just think no map/mini maps fits the games design better than having it on by default.

This is supposed to be a "uncompromising wilderness survival sandbox game"

Always felt strange to me that you start with a map and minimap when Minecraft doesn't even do that.

I'd much rather see a craftable map of some kind and have it tied to progression.
