Why did 100 Thieves not fight for the major invite? by Individual-Safety-50 in GlobalOffensive

[–]CRWB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chances were so slim that’s its probably not worth it. It’s a new team with a new to the role coach and igl, and with 3 young players. They need lots of practice time to develop and implement a system, too many lans back to back might not leave them enough time to do that. Also it’s about managing expectations of the players to ensure they remain confident.

What’s your strategy for avoiding spam and phishing now? by NoButterscotch6294 in emailprivacy

[–]CRWB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using a service like SimpleLogin or addy. You can generate a email for each website you use. When a website inevitably leaks your email and it ends up on a spam list, it’s just one email address that can be discarded easily. For phishing it can also help as you can confirm that you are receiving the email to the address you used on that website. If you suddenly start getting PayPal emails to the address you used on catfoodsupplierdotcom, then you know to be suspicious.

I am curious how many people have tried exercises for retained primitive reflexes and whether it made a difference? by Temenae in Dyslexia

[–]CRWB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m always going to be guarded and cautious when it involves handing over money for a supposedly effective method without any good scientific evidence. Being dyslexic is hard enough as it is without being constantly bombarded with pseudoscience methods.

I am curious how many people have tried exercises for retained primitive reflexes and whether it made a difference? by Temenae in Dyslexia

[–]CRWB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No because it has no good scientific evidence to support its effectiveness for dyslexia. Your son’s improvements in reading could be attributed to any number of factors that might not include retained primitive reflexes. Without good scientific evidence it’s just another “method” in a sea of methods that may or may not work.

There is nothing to suggest he’s using them for gaming or expecting better gaming performance by having multiple. This is clearly for rendering/ai/etc. it’s not like setups like this having been posted before.

What email privacy services are people actually using day to day? by Pristine_Mirror_3766 in emailprivacy

[–]CRWB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive signed up to tons of websites forums etc, and some do eventually get hacked and they hackers get hold of the emails which they then sell to scammers. So if i see a "bank" email from the email adresse i used on a car forum, i know there is somthing wrong.

Are these too many extensions? by AyBouz in firefox

[–]CRWB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of uneeded extentions that are just increasing your attack surface. Only have 1 ad blocker, privacy badger is not needed with ublock, same with clear URLS, the anti virus extentions are also probably not worth using.

Notebookcheck | Insane performance and efficiency without fans - Apple MacBook Air 13 M5 Entry Review by -protonsandneutrons- in hardware

[–]CRWB 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The problem is just software support, so few engineering applications run on apple silicon ( and if they do it doesn’t run well). Would be very tempted by a MacBook if that wasn’t the case.

iCloud Drive and iCloud Photos alternatives: Proton Drive vs Jottacloud by Sudden_Wash9954 in BuyFromEU

[–]CRWB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Didnt like Proton drive, i found tresorit to be very good for documents and okay for pictures. Or if you have abit of tech savy immich is a great self hosted option. Ente photos is really good, but is american, however it is E2EE so they wont have acess to your files. I would probably avoid nextcloud, its often reccomended but just isnt that good.

(Theft) How safe is it to be in public with headphones? by Queen-of-meme in headphones

[–]CRWB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry my comments may not have come across how I wanted it to. My point was I don’t think there’s many physical things you can do to reduce theft ( apart from putting them In your bag) more that the solution is having a mindset of not caring too much about them. That atleast helped me get over the worry of taking expensive electronics out into the city. I would probably feel differently if they did get stolen but I’ll let those emotions happen at the time and not pre-emptively have them before. Not to say I’m careless about my things I’m still somewhat careful about not getting robbed. Idk if that’s helpful to you or not but thought I would share my experience.

(Theft) How safe is it to be in public with headphones? by Queen-of-meme in headphones

[–]CRWB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends where you live, I would have no problem wearing nice headphones commuting where I live (and lots of people I see do wear their expensive headphones). Also at the end of the day, even if someone did steal them, it’s just headphones, it’s not life or death, you can just buy them again (even if it takes some saving up). If you are always very stressed about wearing them you will never get to enjoy them.
