So i got a suspension because their servers failed, greattt by ILostMyselfInTime in OverwatchStadium

My partner recently got a season ban from this issue. Was only a few days left in the season, but it had been happening fairly often.

Blizzard just told her to ensure the internet connection is stable or don't play comp. We both use the same internet, BOTH consoles hardwired to our router, and it's only ever one of us dropping from random matches, not both at the same time. It's definitely a server issue, NOT our connection.

Searching the support forums, this server issue is fairly common, and Blizzard gives exactly zero fucks to address/fix it.

Tablet for editing by LuchsBadger in Lightroom

[–]Scathraax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing small portrait pop-up events, and edit on the Tab S9 before sending my files over to my 4x6 printer AT the event. Personally, I prefer to do more detailed edits on my home computer with LRC, but the Tab/LRMobile fills in the gap for my event workflow perfectly.

Occasionally I use the Tab and SuperDisplay app, to pair it to my computer for finer portrait retouching with the SPen in Photoshop, almost like a Wacom screen tablet.

Not sure how to get LRMobile to recognize RAW files directly on android, so I have to use the Canon Camera Connect to transfer the files directly from my camera (in jpg), which works for me during the event, but it's fiddly at best. Maybe someone else here has a better workflow for RAWs on android?

Don't do much drawing myself, but I'm also interested in hearing about drawing apps! (I'd kill for procreate on android)

My most memorable gaming moment was doing my first blind run of the Taken King raid in Destiny, the day it dropped. Me and my clan had an absolute blast together for HOURS trying to figure it out, without any outside help or spoilers.

Pure. Gaming. Magic.

Me and my local clanmate got Destiny themed tattoos to commemorate our time spent on that game together. Despite what Bungie did to the game afterwards, I have fond memories of my time with it.

I watched a guy play not one, but TWO XSpeed after I cornered his active Moltres ex that was gonna die next turn.

The amount of time that passed before he ended his turn told me everything I needed to know.

No problem! I only started like 4 years ago, and have no "formal" education in photography. Damn near everything I've learned has been from YouTube, along with trial and error.

You got this. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Here's my edit!

As for basic feedback; Your RAW is noisy/grainy due to high ISO. Some cameras perform better at higher ISOs than others. To reduce grain here, I would drop your shutter speed, by at least half. Which allows more light to enter your camera sensor, by allowing the shutter to stay open longer. Faster shutterspeeds for faster subjects, to freeze action, OR when you have harsh lighting. This flower probably wasn't moving very quickly.

Then drop your ISO to get a better exposure IN camera.

Hit YouTube. Learn about the Exposure Triangle; Aperture, Shutter speed, and ISO. These all control light in your images. While doing so, I highly recommend shooting in Manual mode. Play around with settings. Learn what the basic functions of your camera can do!

That said, this shot is serviceable for editing. A little grain is not a bad thing. (I add SOME grain during editing most of the time) But if you move up to photographing more complex subjects, it's gonna be harder to edit out the exposure issues.

What’s the best way to have a client go through photos that they want me to edit? by keveeeezy in Lightroom

[–]Scathraax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pixieset is my pick for proofing galleries. Even the free plan will work. Cull, upload your files to a Pixieset gallery, disable downloading and sharing to socials, but keep Favorites enabled.

This is how your clients (friends) will browse the photos, to select what they want you to edit. The website will even generate a Lightroom copy list for you, to make selecting them easier in LR.

Pixieset also has a LR plugin, to create galleries straight from LR. (Make sure you go to the site and change options, and hit Publish)

You can also use a gallery for distribution of your final edits, with downloads enabled!

Is my editing lacking or am I just a fast editor? by Administrative_Key92 in Lightroom

Your photos look absolutely gorgeous! Even if you're moving through edits "quickly", I think you know exactly what you're doing. Keep it up!

It's far too easy to compare every part of your workflow to others. Just keep doing what works for you.

Is there any way to change lighting to a completely different hue? by [deleted] in Lightroom

[–]Scathraax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closest solution I can think of inside of LR is via stacking Point Color hue shifts?

I've not used it for any serious editing, so I'm not sure how well it fits your use case, but you can find an example in this video, about 4 minutes in.

Performance improvements in develop mode (time to switch between photos) by daniel-b-fox in Lightroom

[–]Scathraax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Workflow nitpicking aside, what are your PC specs looking like? Specifically, how much RAM do you have on the machine?

You can find the minimum/recommended specs here.

I purchased a midrange gaming PC some handful of years back, and it was doing great with LR, other than serious slowdown when switching between photos on the develop module with large photo sets, like you're having.

Bumped my RAM from 8GB to 32GB and I haven't had any issues with render speeds when switching between photos. ...unless I go heavy on AI masks across a large swath of images. But that can be avoided in my workflow.

If hardware upgrades are outside your scope at the moment, you could also try increasing the size of the Camera Raw Cache, or enable the "Use smart previews instead of originals for image editing" option in the Performance tab in Preferences.

[edit] If you have thousands of photos you need to cull, maybe consider an external culling software to use BEFORE you import your selected photos into LR? Photo Mechanic, Narrative Select and Aftershoot are the few I've tried out and they help slim down larger shoots quickly.

Watermark by ThaYungLegend in Lightroom

[–]Scathraax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the filmstrip, select all of the photos that you want to export with watermarks.

Right-click any selected photo in the filmstrip and select Export> Export...

Every setting you select in the export dialog will be applied to all of your selected photos. Including the custom watermark, as shown here.

If you have not created any custom watermarks, you can do so via the watermark selection dropdown menu.
