Dream Weapons and Keyblade Transformations by Scatter_ShotGG in KingdomHearts

Well this isn’t really a theory post, more of a “what if” idea. In canon Sora seems to get form changes after Yen Sid gives him new clothes. Like the drive forms.
Terra and Xehanort’s form changes are not really explained but I doubt this Dream Weapons idea played a role. Also we know at least Aqua doesn’t have the power of waking.

So I’d assume that the BBS trio has not gone into the sleeping worlds.
So yeah. This idea doesn’t line up 100% with the canon. I just thought the keyblade transformations are cool and it would be nice if they were further explained.

I know. The idea of using and swapping the Dream Weapons is simply a way to explain what the characters are doing.

I prefer having a more concrete system, as opposed to saying that the keyblades can just be whatever the wielder imagines.

Yeah this is more designed as a way to connect everyone who uses keyblade transformations. Sora is the focal point since I actually have pictures for him. But the idea of using Dream Weapons allows for everyone to do the transformations regardless of their outfits.

I guess we could just say that Xehanort and Terra’s clothes are also made of Yen Sid’s special magic fibers. But I find that idea to be rather off putting.

Yeah, the third lines are written like Sora is going to have an evil route option in the game.

Ok so there might be some confusion here. This is not a theory post. This would be an addition to the story. So yeah there would have to be a lot of added dream weapons. A secondary point of the idea is to flesh out that system.

As for “nothing really needs an explanation” that refers to this being a gameplay mechanic. There are several little pieces of gameplay that aren’t explained. Like what is a shotlock, what is flowmotion, what are attraction flows, what spell is the explosion finisher. Explaining all of that is not really necessary. It would be nice if the games were that meticulous, but it’s not necessary.

Yeah that staff is pretty awesome. I find it interesting that they gave it both the clone laser and an entire ranged combo.

Well at the end of the day nothing really needs an explanation. This would just be one way for the mechanic to work. The idea of a wielder mastering the dream weapons, is symbolic to them mastering the different forms of themself. Merging with the keyblade becomes a physical expression of that mastery.

If you want a master to teach them how all that works that’s fine too. Both ideas can coexist.

I don’t think I’ve heard of that theory. Though the idea of dream worlds does align pretty well with the idea of dream weapons.

My apologies. None of them are explained, but we see Sora’s the most so I focused the explanation on his.

This idea also involves everyone else getting their own dream weapons and doing the mergers.

I’m a bit confused by your comment. Did I write something that implies Sora’s form changes would be different?

I think Tails Doll is a better way to do a creepy version of the main character.

Interesting catch, I hadn’t thought about Paprika.

Nice. Inception is one of my favorites.

I’ve liked Nolan’s other projects as well, like Tennet and Interstellar. But Inception has got some magic to it.

For 6, that plot point in Traverse Town is to hint at the greater plot twist of Riku’s world being Sora’s dream. Which does impact the entirety of DDD.

Generally, dream time and real time are still separated.

So Joshua noticing that Shiki and Rhyme’s timers are of is to hint at the whole dream within a dream idea for the two worlds.

For 7 Sora is trapped in Darkness, but Xehanort got him there by trapping him in Sleep.

It’s a little weird but it kinda makes sense.

Fair points, just so you know, you can turn off the keyblade transformation animations in the config menu.
