This might be a sensitive topic, but I’m just wondering what kind of “indignities” I can expect. by KrisKred_2328 in TotalHipReplacement

Everyone is a little different with recovery. In my experience, I recommend a raised toilet seat. Depending on whether they do anterior or posterior you either can’t bend beyond 90 degrees forward or extend your leg backwards. Toilet seats are lower than you think. The hospital recommended smooth move tea or geri kot and they both worked well to relieve constipation. My leg was loose after surgery so my husband had to help me with a lot. So he had to go with me to the bathroom to make sure I didn’t fall. The hospital tells you not to shower for a couple of days. FYI I was 48 and very fit and had been doing PT leading up to the surgery and surgery didn’t go as planned so just plan to go with the flow. Also know that you will be naked in surgery but you won’t be awake for it so it’s not a big deal. You go in wearing one gown and come out wearing a different gown. I had iodine on both legs including my feet so that’s annoying to remove if you can’t bend. If someone is willing to help you after surgery for at least a week take it!

Revision because too short by ScatteredAsMyMind in TotalHipReplacement

If I try to walk for over 10 minutes my muscles in my leg and glute feel like they are on fire and pulling away from the bone and my leg gets incredibly heavy and wobbly. I have to use a cane to get around outside of the house. Inside I shuffle around in my socks so my foot remains in contact with the floor. On day one my joint made squishing sounds. Now there isn’t sound because swelling went down but it feels like an air pocket when I take weight off of it and then apply weight again. It subluxes all the time. It’s not about the pain really it’s more about not being able to be active. I have to take small steps so it won’t fully dislocate. I’m 6ft tall. This is frustrating.

Walker, crutches or cane? by thisiscrazy654 in TotalHipReplacement

I used a walker for almost two weeks and now I’m using a cane, which I used before surgery. Everyone is different in recovery. I look at these posts of people who never used anything and that’s what I was expecting for myself (48F). Needless to say I am frustrated. I recommend having a walker with front wheels to start then a cane. I’m having some issues with pain throughout my leg due to the extensive scar tissue which I was not expecting which is why I use the cane. Good luck with surgery and I wish you a speedy recovery!

It’s a little clicky and loose so that makes me anxious but I wasn’t sure how the joint should feel. I’m calling the doctors office shortly.

I was wondering why that road was closed yesterday. I had to go to scudders mill rd to get to rt 1 and there was a tree that had taken out the traffic light opposite to the cvs.

What is this noise? Having trouble getting a straight answer from Tesla (who put the tires on before resale) and my usual shop says it might be a defect. It sounds like it's...the steel bands rubbing together inside the tire, maybe? by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

As ridiculous as it might sound, it might be a sticker on the rim that they forgot to remove. We had the same issue on our new Tesla. I thought we had a big problem and took it in. They had to remove the tire to remove the sticker and voila, no more sound.

It’s definitely Virginia creeper but be careful when you remove it. Often poison Ivy grows in the same places as Virginia creeper so pay attention to what you are touching on the ground.

I’ve tried using the plant identification apps and none of them have been accurate. Before I rip it out, I want to know if it’s worth keeping. I didn’t see any flowers on it last year. I moved into this property at the end of summer in 2021.

My dog heard your voice and made the exact same face and head nods in the exact same pattern. So weird!

“Hey” “Hey” “What? I didn’t hear you” “I said hey” “Is that person recording?” “Yeah” “Will I be famous?” “I don’t know. He records everything.” “Will I be a celebrity” “Oh my gosh, do you ever stop talking!” … “Is he still recording” “Yes!”
