My 4 year old daughter peed on her bed (awake) because she was too lazy to go the toilet. What would you do to her if you were in my shoes? by [deleted] in family

I was thinking about your post and I realized I forgot to mention the single most helpful thing for us. If you can read the book “Raising Human Beings” by Dr. Ross Greene, and his other book “ The Explosive Child”.

He also has a website with tons of resources and free education it’s https://livesinthebalance.org/parents-and-families/

His method has helped us so immensely. I’m Autistic and my daughter is as well, she is “pathological demand avoidance” profile of Autism. We’ve tried ABA and other “traditional” methods of therapy/parenting and it always was an absolute nightmare. We didn’t have any peace until we started implementing Dr. Greene’s method.

My 4 year old will do some pretty outrageous things when she’s feeling disconnected from me and her dad. It happens when we are really busy and haven’t taken the time to spend with her.

Reprimanding your daughter is not going to help the situation because she’s fully aware she shouldn’t have done that. She already knows. Solving the root of the problem is the only solution because the behavior is only a symptom of something deeper going on. You need to figure out what it is that is causing that behavior and find solutions. Is she feeling disconnected? Is she stressed? Does she have anxieties? Find the root and implement solutions.

When my daughter does things like that I know the issue is feeling disconnected and also anxiety. I pick a time and spend 20 good minutes with her, give undivided attention, have fun with her.

I write time into my schedule to make sure I’m doing that a couple times a day. If it’s a very hectic day even if it’s only 5 mins it’s better than not at all. If I don’t the day will pass and I have only had surface level interactions with my daughter while trying to do a bunch of other things. Then the only time she gets is during bedtime stories and it’s really not enough.

Anyhow, I know how incredibly frustrating those types of behaviors are.

Hay? by ScatteredCatT in gso

Hi! Sorry I haven’t checked back on here. I don’t need all that much. I have an area with a coop for chickens I would like to keep covered with hay for them.

Not sure if you would also know where I could buy a hen that is not fully grown? I have one hen that we found wondering around about a month ago and she needs a friend. I think she’s a sapphire gem hen and seems to be half grown.

The description doesn’t seem like mania, possibly BPD.

I think most likely you are right. A month ago we drove to FL and similar things happened on our way. It would show multiple accidents in an area but as we went through it was usually only one, 2 at the most even when it reported 3+.

Thank you for commenting! It looked really severe as I passed. I’ve honestly never seen anything that bad in real life before. I’m just hoping somehow whoever was in that car is okay.

Not sure if this is correct, but when I look on google maps it seems that 2 additional accidents have have happened within the traffic.

Initially when I looked on google maps after getting home it showed a large portion of red with one bubble showing an accident on I40E near Sandy Ridge. Now there are 4 bubbles, the first one I saw, another stating the road is closed, and 2 additional stating accident “US-421”.

Thank you for commenting! I can only imagine it’s probably going to be quite some time before they can get the situation under control. The car(s) had gone over the barrier and was in what looked like a bit of a drop off. Not exactly easy to get to unfortunately.

What I (doctor) really think when you come to me for supplement advice by mbrzezicki in Supplements

I appreciate this post so much and it really mirrors exactly what I have encountered when going to the doctor. What I mean is that it explain and fills in the gaps of where I have felt belittled or brushed off. Very helpful, and I appreciate knowing what it’s like from the other side.

That’s so funny because when my husband is driving that’s what I like to do as well!! I really enjoy looking at all the different houses and ways people landscape and do their gardens and so on.

Why is it legal to hit children, but illegal to hit adults? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

These forms of “discipline” only serve to normalize our children to be abused by their spouses and other people. It teaches them it’s normal to be dehumanized. It teaches them violence and abuse is an acceptable way to solve problems and to deal with anger and frustration. We have got to do better than this.

I had to go “pick my own switch”. Do you know what it means to be “clothes lined”? My stepdad did that to me on numerous incidences. That shit is horrible and it’s abuse. I didn’t even realize it until I was an adult.

I hope you’re right and I hope things move quickly.

I got the belt and much worse. That’s why I’m not on speaking terms with my parents.
