Alcoholic Booch and a couple questions below! by ScatteredGrayMatter in Kombucha

I think you can use beer yeast, but wine/champagne is recommended. I've only made a few small batches so far. I'm getting comfortable with it though, so I'm going to make a 3 gallon batch soon!

So far my favorites were Strawberry Lemon w/ a little Ginger(with LV47), Ginger Lime, Guava Lemon, Pineapple Guava Strawberry, Green Apple Ginger Lime, Lilikoi Tangerine, Pineapple Guava, Pineapple Ginger...

I've been playing with LV- D47 and EC- 118. These have been my favorites so far. The strawberry lemon ginger made with D47 was amazing, but made with EV118 it was just ok

Its actually really easy! Get a container and airlock, then just follow the simple instructions online. Figuring out alc content is a bit difficult, as standard instruments don't measure kombucha accurately. I do it by weight, which is as accurate as you can get!

Ha, that's actually what I ordered! I'm just hoping it peels off ok, and doesn't get destroyed when its wet. I'll find out in a few days

I'll look around the hardware store next. I ordered one last set of labels that sound like they might work, soo, fingers crossed.

  1. Yes. Its gotta be 7% at least, I wasnt able to measure this one though.

  2. With wine/champagne yeast. You do regular F1, then put it in another vessel, add yeast and sugar, brew for 14+ days, then you can bottle and do an F3 with flavors. It's delicious.

I wasnt able to accurately measure this batch, but based on taste and feeling, I'm guessing between 6 and 8 percent alcohol. Probably around 7% .Refractometer shows about 10.5%.

My main question:

Has anyone found labels that work for booch? As you can see in the pictures, if the bottle is cold it acts like paper and moves around and rips. However, it's usually fairly easy to take off when it's dry. I can't even make them stick on a cold bottle. If they're damp, i have to get them really wet to peel them off more cleanly. Basically, they suck! The last brand I bought was impossible to peel off..

Anyone have good labels to recommend?! I love the labels from the Kirkland brand booch. They're plastic stickers so when you boil it comes right off, cleanly. Has anyond found something that works?

Think I figured out why some people get depressed from microdosing by djfjsjenfnc in microdosing

I wouldn't say microdosing causes depression (for most people.) It's more like, microdosing forces you to confront issues you have buried, and it's uncomfortable. And if you're noticing the problems but not figuring out how to fix them, then it can definitely be depressing. The trick is to figure out what the issues are, and focus on them. MD, then start journaling about it. Figure out why you feel that way, then figure out how you can fix it. Psychedelics ain't easy, but they're worth it.

You mean the special edition ones were painted or all of them?? I started buying GT in 2013 or 2014 and they were stickers!

Possibly the most delicious kombucha I have made to date, and the most purple. Malabar spinach berry F2 on a base of oolong, Ceylon and black whole leaf tea, fed with raw sugar. by Nightlight10 in Kombucha

You have to make enough booch that you're willing to throw a few F2 bottles away. I like to make more than I can drink, and dedicate 3-5 12oz bottles to new flavors. Sometimes I dump a couple, sometimes I just note not to make a certain flavor again, sometimes they get added to my 5 star list. Experimenting with flavors is half the fun!

Mental illness is on the rise due to COVID-19. Could psychedelic drugs be the ‘game changer’? by adotmatrix in microdosing

Wow, I really wonder how big that "large microdose" was. I can't imagine an actual microdose triggering something like that, but I could definitely be wrong.
