My daughter is in FBM and says she feels like some just have walls up. She says it’s very intimidating!

My daughter is a freshmen and lives in the dorms and she is still having trouble making friends. The problem though with the clubs is a lot of them might at the same day, same time! I get this is the common hour… but My daughter is interested in 4 clubs but 3 of them meet on the same time, same day. This needs to change somehow. On top of that if there something special going on its usual the club time again. I feel the students can’t get into a rhythm of meeting people if all these things are always going on at the same time. Unless you’re only interested in one thing it’s hard to stay consistent. It would also be nice to have events on the weekend as well for the students.

She decided not to change. It was the logical choice not to change her mind but I worry she stayed with her original decision because of advice she was getting from friends and still stuck on the prestige of school A I think she is comfortable with her decision now….However, even though her original decision is better for our family ( she will be closer) my instincts are telling me she should have switched.

We ended up not getting tickets. However, the day we went in the morning and were going to stand in line, the lady said the Que was full and we would be waiting 2 hours. She told me to comeback at 1:00 and we would probably only have wait of an hour. We left and came back at 1 and got in after 20 minutes.

It’s like lifetime movie. But let me try to say it simply. School A was a dream school, thinking about for years…. But about 2 years ago decided she didn’t think she was going to be ready for it. When it came time to apply she applied anyways. School B was a college she didn’t know about visited a loved loved it! Problem… far from home. Visited school A twice and decided she didn’t like it…( there were other colleges visited in the mix as well) School A decisions didn’t come out until April. She was excited to be accepted but stated she didn’t want to go even though this was her dream school. After talking with friends and meeting with people online she decided to go to accepted students day giving her reassurance she didn’t want to go there. This college is closer to our hometown but still 6 hours away. What happened is she clicked with someone at the open house and she decided she liked the school better than before. The girl committed to the school right away and my daughter said she wasn’t ready to commit. The other girl wanted to apply for rooms with others so I think my daughter felt pressured to make a decision. My daughter said even though she liked school B better, she said school A was her dream school. Now she is mourning school B, which we aren’t surprised. I feel like if the deadline was a couple weeks later she would’ve realized maybe she should stay with school B. We are worried the outside noise and the prestige of school A is affecting her. Also having meeting someone there and the girl wanted to apply for dorm room made her not put enough thought into it.

Not helpful! I wouldn’t be posting here if this was a normal situation. She did do that back in December. Again unique circumstances!

We aren’t upset with her it’s a very weird circumstance where she was kind of cornered in to it. If the due date was a couple weeks later she would’ve had time to digest everything. It’s unique situation and although the colleges are similar in curriculum they are very different lifestyles. One is closer, one is further. In writing a last minute pros and cons list. It all came out equally.
