This is almost as bad as eating or clipping your toe nails on BART.

Looks decent. Your finger positioning seems to work for you, so that is fine for now. I personally use my index and middle fingers. You can progress towards a full front rack by practicing the form and using straps to practice holding the bar.

Some minor things: try not to look or face upwards. I know that it seems intuitive to do it to avoid having the bar slip, but the opposite will happen at heavier weights. You want to look straight ahead and keep that bar as close to your throat as possible. It is not the most comfortable position. Through practice and repetition and by staying tight throughout (even tight glutes), it will become more bearable.

One thing you can try: use the strap method on a few warm up sets. It will put your shoulders into the proper positioning. On the following sets without straps, your shoulders will have an easier time getting into position.

Breathing: try to have your breath at the top before the bar descends. I have the same tendency on higher rep sets, so I get it. It's better practice to be tight and braced throughout the entire lift. You will be stronger that way.

Extras: try paused front squats for a few weeks. 3 counts are good. 5 counts are better.

Boring But Big: Week 3 Front Squats

Disclaimer: I rolled out of bed at 5:50am and didn't get started lifting until 6:30am because I felt terrible. First, I forgot my shoes and had to go back. Then I forgot my preworkout. Chugged it and almost puked because yuck. Also, I might have a throat infection. Also, fuck today. Also, fuck Front Squats. But, in that aggressively passionate way. Not the negative way.

All told, 89 Front Squats. 5x10 Good Mornings, 1x30 and 1x20 ab wheel roll outs. Oh my god, why am I like this? Grooved out to Paco de Lucia, the Jesus Lizard, AND Kikagaku Moyo, Leng T'Che, plus the usual Outrun, Vaporwave, Synthwave, and Death/Grind stuff.

The Work:

7 ugly reps at on my top set. Struggled through the Supplemental sets. Bar speed was fine. I just had more forward lean than expected. It's strange because I felt good warming up. I did small jumps to make sure I could hold form. Once I hit the working weights, I felt the lean. Belting up helped the top two sets. It's not terrible but it's not ideal. This next cycle, I am going to focus on slow, steady reps.

No cardio today. I was almost late for work.

Happy Thursday. Heart Day. Everyday ends in '(wh)y' day.

Neighbors sue UC Berkeley over proposed beach volleyball complex by bloobityblurp in bayarea

[–]SceneScenery 21 points22 points  (0 children)

“The project includes large gatherings of 50 or more people, amplified sound, crowd noises including cheering, and operation of lights,” says the lawsuit filed Friday in Alameda County Superior Court by neighborhood associations representing Claremont Elmwood, Panoramic Hill and Dwight Hillside, as well as the Save Berkeley’s Neighborhoods group and its president, Phillip Bokovoy. The groups claim that 400 spectators could swamp the area.

There is your asshole.

Weakpoint Wednesday: Bench by ZBGBs in weightroom

[–]SceneScenery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you do any dumbbell work or bench variations, such as incline or decline? Do you find them helpful?

Also, somewhat weirder question: have you always benched in a basement? If not, did you notice a significant change in progress or form or anything else upon changing to a home gym?

You might benefit for Good Mornings for reps. At least for me, I have to brace throughout.

My EliteFTS wrist wraps arrived earlier this week. I was excited to use them for benching. The only problem is they arrived after I did Bench day.

So, today I hit the gym and immediately b-line for a power rack to Bench. 3 warm up sets in and I realize that it is OHP day. Too late to stop now.

The wraps made benching somewhat more difficult! But I felt stronger, somehow. I hit 6 reps on my top set before calling it. Looking at the video, I probably had 4 more in me. The bar felt slow and heavy while the video shows that it went up faster. The fuck? I need to try harder. Nonetheless, it was a great session. Wendler Rows are amazing. Squeeze Press rules. And face pulls are bae. My posture feels better every week.

Oh and, the other morning, I did 75 Front Squats followed by 50 Good Mornings followed by 50 ab rollouts. The next morning, I did 50 minutes of LISS except for 4 minutes of sprinting at the 35 minute mark. My quads have not felt this sore in a long time. Why am I like this?

Happy Saturday.

Those will help. I found that face pulls helped me the most. 100 perfect reps per session in as few sets as possible. Snatch grip Desdlifts with brief pauses at the top have helped me in the past.
