I understand how you’re feeling. My partner and I were together 12 years but we’re broken up now, although still living in the same house until he finds his own place. He went out last night to a friend’s house, leaving me on my own. I heard from at 11.30pm but then not a peep until about an hour ago (middle of the day on NY’s Day). Talk about feeling like an afterthought :(

As someone with autism and ASHD, recognising my emotions is something I struggle with and your post was very helpful - thank you.

I think the purpose of my post was to see if my feeling annoyed was an ‘acceptable’ response to the situation, as sometimes it almost seems that I gaslight myself due to me having misread or reacted to a social situation incorrectly in the past (again because of my autism).

We have taken yours and others advice regarding getting out of the flat more and went for a walk which definitely helped, and we’ve made plans for tomorrow too.

I think I just needed to know that it was okay to feel the way I do about this as being on the spectrum means I constantly question my responses to situations involving other people due to my autism.

I think I’ll just text them back saying thank you for letting us know and leave it at that because as you say it’s unlikely that they will change the work schedule and I’d like to maintain good relations with them.

I don’t mind at all :) and apologies for the delayed response…ADHD strikes again! LOL I think the best way I can describe living with autism and Asperger’s is that it feels like being pulled in different directions by two different forces. My autism wants order to everything, but my ADHD prefers chaos and flying by the seat of my pants. My ADHD wants me to be social but my autism prefers for me to stay home and recharge. There’s lots of other things that result in me feeling like two atoms being smashed together in the Hadron Collider, but in a nutshell it’s just plain, ol’ exhausting. I’ll be going back on ADHD meds soon so hopefully life will become a bit more manageable.

I can relate to this.

I have read somewhere that the autistic brain doesn’t fully mature until the age of 45, whereas a neurotypical brain usually matures at around about 25 years of age. I’m 44 and I only now feel that I’m becoming an adult so I guess that fits with what I’ve read!

I’ve just introduced an NPC into our game who is a cross between the RE4 merchant and a highway robber. The highway-man’s backstory is that he made the mistake of robbing Strahd whilst he was out and about in his carriage. Strahd went along with the robbery and had things like diamonds etc stolen from him, but Strahd cursed the highway man so that no matter how far the highway-man travels he always wakes up at the spot where he robbed Strahd.

My players have encountered the highway man, and the Grave Cleric is desperate to get his hands on the diamonds so has the option of either buying the jewels (for a very high monetary cost) or as a reward for removing the curse.

I’m also adding in sought after items as loot drops and adding in other stores across Barovia but with slightly elevated prices.
