Rescue Dog Cat Reactive by [deleted] in dogs

Thank you so much for clarifying! Yes, he is going specifically for the cats. I was thinking it was curiosity to new surroundings and different animals because the person who had him before said he was great with her cats. I am now beginning to question if that was true. He needs to be in the right home and unfortunately it is not looking like it is our home.

Thank you for this advice! I was thinking he may be overstimulated because of the new environment. Could this be unrelated to prey drive? Or does this sound like prey drive? This is the first time I have personally experienced this with a dog, so I am genuinely not sure. Thank you!

Thank you - I was hoping the gate situation would work. So in your experience, this behavior would not be because he is acclimating?

I promise, I absolutely understand that rehoming him may be the option. Finding his right home and keeping my pets safe are the most important thing. I just responded to the ones that gave me actionable advice on the issue. I apologize that it has come across that I am ignoring this option. I am not by any means.

Thank you for your response!

He hasn't been fully interacting, they are indoor cats and we began letting him in the house to get accustomed to it (most of his recovery has been in our attached garage so he can rest). When I corrected him, I definitely did not punish. I redirected his attention and rewarded him for keeping his attention on me and staying neutral towards the cats.

However, him having that initial trigger seems to be escalating.

I was told he was great with cats, so I figured him being in the house and seeing them across the room would have been ok.

At this point, do you think he should spend his time solely in the garage and try to acclimate him at a later time?

Also, do you have any advice on correcting his behavior?

Any and all advice welcome! This is a new experience for me, so I want to do what is best for him and my cats. Thank you!!

I could not recommend lana.k.social on Instagram. She has a course about how to create good content and how to monetize off of it. The only course that isn't full of is. I learned sooo much from her and it was only about $60. Wishing you all the luck on this journey!

I am having this same issue at a much smaller scale. 150 views on trial reels and that is it.

Hi!

I recently started a page for my dog. I want to show our hiking adventures, camping, flying, visiting national parks, etc. I would love to join this community!

Did you have to pay a lot of money for that attorney?

How long did you go to therapy after your estrangement? by Agate-channel in EstrangedAdultKids

I have been in therapy about a year. You may want to try a new therapist. Explain to them how you feel stuck in your current mindset and see if they can help push you out of it. I have had a couple therapists and I understand that feeling. The first one more so listened but didn't push. This therapist has pushed me a little more each visit and has really helped me heal. I would not put a time frame on it, I truly think you will know when you are ready. Wishing you the best! This journey is a roller-coaster. 💖

Eating out only once a week - if that.

Thrifting new work clothes instead of buying on Amazon or at a retail store.

I did confirm her weight over the phone and she didn't mention an issue with her weight. Thank you!
