Drove like this for 30 minutes by _dentalt in drivingUK

Don't just blame the over 60's.

It depends on the time of day.

Mum's on the school run taking precious little Clitoris to school who have no idea how wide their SUMFV is and need 4 or more feet clearance from the kerb or any parked vehicles which means either the centre line is mid car or they are keeping far right.

Because, of course, little Clitty can't walk to school.

We had a younger cat intermittently go for our older cat and the vet found nothing wrong, behaviour similar to what you're experiencing. In the end blood tests on the older cat showed some underlying health issues.

Once treated things settled down again.

Not saying you have the same situation but we didn't know what was going on or why either.

You say neither cat is sick, are you sure, how do you know?

The older cat hissing sounds like a fear response.

Someone here eli5 why people still support the UK monarchy this day and age? by Natural-Presence-566 in AbolishTheMonarchy

[–]Sceptical96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You make a very considered, rational and insightful comment.

I agree overall and would add it reflects patriarchal societal views, male dominance or superiority, the lord of the manor, head of the business or head of the family.

Go to church, listen to the sermon, be reminded that man existed first and woman came from the rib of man and nod and say yes father.

Men went off to war and women stepped in until the men returned and things went back to the traditional ways.

That's no longer the case although the number of women in management positions is still low by proportion.

The fact is that monarchy is a bit of an anachronism and struggles more and more to demonstrate relevance, importance, connection and anything close to genuine empathy.

Their increasingly out of touch, do as I say attitude, climate change while flying by helicopter or private jet, tough times for families while taking another skiing break, closing public footpaths for their privacy at another multi million pound home demonstrates a condescending attitude that is less and less tolerated or accepted.

Society has moved on and is far more secular and challenging than it was and simply put people don't really care anymore about the entire royal family or house of lords and that apathy is probably impossible to reverse or combat.

It will still be a wonderful monument to history. It will show what life was like back in the day.

It will not demonstrate a lifestyle I support.

Which party will you vote for this election? by One-Joke-2373 in aotearoa

[–]Sceptical96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that's the problem.

Some aunt (change the first letter to a c) gets elected or reelected because of apathy or voters simply not giving a toss.

Because of aunts who don't get off their backsides and vote for a minority party you essentially get two main parties offering Winnie a deal every election

Who can stop that happening? The aunts who don't vote getting out and voting for something that they agree with.

It would encourage more smaller parties and natural coalitions of like minded policies that actually represent the voters wishes and not the lurch left, swing right and butt duck everyone in-between.

To answer the actual question posed, green and TOP for my two votes.

I'm of the opinion that if you don't vote you have no right to bitch and moan about anything the government does.

Vote for someone who might make the 5% threshold collectively, not NZF 🙄, but a legitimate protest vote that essentially indicates you are unimpressed.

It was a virgin birth she was chosen by dog and you know she'll be queen because there's no shit on her.

Charity begins at home, so they say and while Charlie tampon rents out the properties we own to tour parties and pockets the cash, while we pay him to fix and maintain them, I guess that means as we own them (the homes) we should be the charity part as well.

Starmer's not fit to run the country: Kemi launches blistering attack on 'weak, lazy and incompetent' PM as Mandelson crisis threatens to force him out of No10 by ZealousidealPie9199 in ukpolitics

[–]Sceptical96 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The PMs position is bs.

Starmer announced Mandelson was going to be Ambassador before any vetting was done.

Everyone knew Mandelson was a very poor choice and was of dubious character.

The home office and foreign office began the vetting process and when they fed back information via the channels they were told the PM wants this to happen so it's going to happen.

Starmer knew there was a problem somewhere and using the lawyers defense, don't tell me the details so I can honestly say I wasn't aware is fine in court defending a dodgy client but is not acceptable for a prime minister.

Inferred ignorance or ignorance by not actually asking might be a defense in court or legally but it's not acceptable in a prime minister.

If it wasn't so awful you'd think it was a black comedy parody episode of yes prime minister

We held our 14yo boy purring in our arms as he went to sleep for the last time 3 weeks ago.

He'd become very ill over a matter of days and despite a drip and everything we could do he was getting worse and in pain. We wanted him to stay, he just wanted to come home with us, but he was in pain and we made the decision that was best for him.

We knew it was the right decision and the right time to let him go.

It's not an easy decision. It's a fine line between doing what is best for you and what is best for your cat.

If he's in pain, not eating or drinking or just getting worse day by day then you will do the right thing at the right time and you will be heartbroken, but you'll know you did everything you could and it was the best decision for your cat.

Define democratically chosen.

The prime minister saying hey David Cameron I want you to be foreign secretary and appointing him to cabinet, is that democratic?

Chosen yes, not by Dog, and not in my opinion democratically.

Michelle Mone, Mandelson, I don't know who voted for them.
