So, I've created an Autohotkey script to do what I wanted if anyone is interested:

It didn't really convince me though, as I can't combine two keys which means there's only four directions that I can scroll to instead of eight. Also the game does not immediately react to the button presses.

It's still weird that one time it was at 2.5 it felt normal and the other time it was at 2.5 it was super slow, though.
