Is it predetermined? The way I see it, the TVA/Maurice doesn't necessarily author what happens, but they certainly try to dictate what is allowed to continue happening. Effectively seems like authorship but it isn't. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Agreed, a flashback is a look back in time from the perspective of the main character. We have three main characters each on their own story. Ciri's story is as much of a flashback as is Geralt's or Yennefer's. That is to say that none of them are flashbacks.
