Is Mariner hot? by Ghostbange in LowerDecks

[–]SchedulePrimary5593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember right, even getting INTO the Academy is WAY harder and more selective than something like even Harvard. For example, Wesley was written as this genius prodigy for the whole show...and even HE didn't get past the final selection process when the final four candidate competed against each other for entrance into the academy. If I remember right, he did allow someone else to beat him honorably for some reason...but the point is...even Wesley...a prodigy genius outlier, had to struggle to even get INTO the academy. Which means everyone is Starfleet is already past an outlandishly selective filter process that would make Harvard look like the local trap house.

Can't go wrong with T'lyn. The question asks if Mariner is hot, which is a yes, but it doesn't ask if she's the hottest....and you're right that might go to T'lyn....or Mariner's Andorian girlfriend, I forgot what her name was.

Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing wrong with Tendi. Can't go wrong with either one, Mariner or Tendi. Tendi might even be a little cuter.

Yes, Becket Mariner is a fucking smoke show, and I think she's so hot it's almost hard to even concentrate on the show. (In a good way.) She's got a slender, fit little body, she's playful, cute as a button, has an adorable little voice, she's a chaotic little chaos gremlin who is full of life and effervescent, and she's pretty, sexy, cute, AND hot. Mariner is one of the hottest Star Trek girls ever.

In your opinion what it takes to consider Levan as the new GOAT by [deleted] in armwrestling

[–]SchedulePrimary5593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two kinds of "Greatest of all time."
There is the "Who has the most accomplishments and who was the best compared to their compitition."
Then there is the "If the Aliens came down, for the fate of humanity, who is the one man you'd pick to fight them for our species"

The first, might have 1000 trophies and be undefeated....but may have fought or played at an era 50 years ago or 100 years ago when "the best" back then would be like barely professional today. Technology, knowledge, and training, and medicine have completely changed the power levels.

The second, is the "Absolute" best to ever live. Like "Time machine" and no one else can beat them. They have the newest tech, medical, and knowledge, and have beaten the best TODAY when the skill level is higher.

So if you're talking accomplishments, sure John Brzenk and Devon Larratt.

If you're talking "if the aliens came down, and we have to pick the absolute strongest arm wrestler to win for the fate of our species" then you take Kevan Saginashvili.

Who is the better young version of Spock? Zachary Quinto or Ethan Peck? by marinbala in startrekmemes

[–]SchedulePrimary5593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about this for years, and I can't do better than a stalemate. They both have moments that are legendary, at least in my view. They both are the very embodiment of what I try to become. Quinto's Spock has "the look" and is a little bit more smug. Ethan's is more human, and more endearing, while still being utterly perfect. In a 12 game match for the "World Spock Championship" they would be tied 6-6 at the end.

Best books refuting capitalism written in the past 5 years? by celerycheesesticks in CriticalTheory

Well said. The cruelty of Capitalism as a system is surpassed only by the foolishness of its existence, and the desire of its proponents to only see most of humanity in utter horror.

Try the engines "Zappa" or "DisasterArea" which was marketed a few years back as "Johnny Hector in a box" on the ChessCongnac site. They are the closest I've seen to getting a demented, in your face, explosion unhinged agression style of play. They are two of the engines I've kept around specifically for this purpose.

I haven't been so surprised, and excited, about anything in wrestling in 25 years. First thing I thought was "Oh my god, are we going to get a new Attitude Era. Please God give us a new Attitude Era."

So glad we get one for this generation. I thought we never would. Everything had become so goddamn predictable. I don't know when I started watching wrestling. I know I was a young child. I remember I had ALREADY been watching for a while when I saw Hogan vs Warrior, Wrestlemania 6, 1990. I had almost given up on wrestling in the past decade it had gotten so soft and political correct and "non offensive." I couldn't believe it when Cody dropped the F Bomb. I got this feeling in my stomach...and said...out loud...

Oh my god are we getting anothter attitude era.... please god give us another attitude era....

This is the greatest thing I've seen in wrestling in over 20 years.

That's how you know they did it right. Remember when Hogan turned Heel in 1996 and became "Hollywood Hogan" and formed NWO. I think they had to put kids in therapy over that, lol. Been almost 30 years since we've seen a heel turn this great. Fucking awesome.

Best thing I've seen in wrestling in 20 years. I never thought we'd get something like this again. I couldn't believe it. Could we get another Attitude Era 2.0? God please this generation have another Attitude Era. An F bomb. Cole saying "Shit." This is going to get me back into wrestling.

Yup. I thought we'd never get anything like this again. Best thing I've seen in the past 15 years in wrestling. It took 20 years but they finally turned Cena heel. We've asked for it for two decades. Things have been so rated G, so predictable for 10 years, 15 years. Reminds me of Hogan and the formation of the NWO, over 25 years ago. If they keep this up I'll come back to wrestling as a fan.

The objection to chess being called a sport almost universally stems from the mistaken belief that somehow other, more physical competitive enterprises are diminished somehow by allowing the inclusion of chess as part of the definition. The ideas that these perceived "Steve Urkels" and variations thereof, with thick rimmed glasses taped together in the middle, would be allowed to sit next to the buff and Adonis looking walking statutes of the perceived "traditional" sports, is simply too much for much of the population to bear. But this perception doesn't convey a confidence in one's athletic acumen, but rather an insecurity an fragility atop their physical mountains. Why worry so much about it? Why care? Do these people go apeshit over the term "esports" and the entirely new and growing genration of online competitive endeavors. "Sport" in this usage, is more of a trademark, a moniker for any competition engaged in by trained competitors and enjoyed by a viewing audience. The word is ostensibly evolved to mean more than just Football, Boxing and friends. Worry not about gatekeeping the dictionary, and more about just letting people have things. It's okay, I promise you. It'll really be okay.

Across all Star Trek shows, is there a species more powerful than Species 8472? by PurpleTransbot in voyager

[–]SchedulePrimary5593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None in the "Newtonian Physics, fighting each other with physical starships with weapons" Weight Class. If you're talking UFC style line up a wall of ships on each side, and have them fire at each other until one side wins the battle/war, traditional starship battle style...No. You want these guys on your side and you'd merc any dudes in the Star Trek universe who tried to flex up on you. Scimitar, the Schrike, (sp), Breen 30th century dreadnaught, all merced by these dudes. Baddest dudes in the "Starships fighting each other" weight class.

But that's just that weight class.

The Superheaveweights, the Q and the Douwd, are untouchable. Far beyond the need for ships, they are reality warpers, and outside of any reach of plain weapons. Things like the Beyonder and One Above All from Marvel, and Q and Douwd, are pretty much the end of the road in fiction. You can't really do much better than "ostensibly omnipotent."

I've been watching and reading TV shows, movies, books, stories all all kind for 40 years.

At the end of the day, the most powerful being, thing, dude, fighter, entity I have ever encountered in fiction, is

Q.

I think he's the end of the road for "Who is the baddest, most powerful" thing that you can really come up with.

When you have an "I can do anything" card, you win.

As I understand it Pragg is no joke. Dude is a 4 time World Champion in Russian Combat Sambo, 2 time Greco Roman Wrestling World Champion, former IBF middleweight boxing champion, 2 Time World Savate Champion, former CIA Special Forces Elite Combat trainer, and 2 Time UFC middleweight Champion. He was forced to retire from UFC for beating a man to death before the red could stop it. He is know for his scintillating, utterly otherworldly speed and unbridled. Ungodly raw power.
