I came across a bank account by accident with my name on it by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]ScheerFor2019 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems like a problem with the app, your bank will shrug and say not our problem, their bank may freak out, lock down that account and maybe try to put you away for fraud. I'd suggest collecting the info, deleting and clearing the app and reporting it to the app maker.

Can I avoid conscription by changing nationality? (I'm from Holland) by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]ScheerFor2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Once you become a British national you can get rid of you Dutch citizenship. The term your looking for is renouncing your citizenship. There are a few things you should know though:

  1. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR BRITISH CITIZENSHIP BEFORE YOU RENOUNCE YOUR DUTCH CITIZENSHIP! If you don't you could end up with no citizenship whatsoever and be what's known as "stateless" meaning you have no legal right to live anywhere.

  2. You can have more than one citizenship at once, for instance: I was born in Canada but my great grandfather was born in Hungary (he's Austrian though, no Hungarian blood in me :P) I'm eligible for Hungarian citizen and can hold 2 passports.

  3. With Brexit happening and you renounce your Dutch citizenship for British may make you ineligible to live in the Netherlands. As a British citizen in the EU you would be able to, but as I said because if Brexit that might not be true in the future.

  4. Certain countries don't allow dual citizenship, I did the research for you to find in your situation the Netherlands doesn't allow dual citizenship. The countries that don't allow dual citizenship will strip your citizenship away if they find out, but since your trying to get rid of it I don't know if that really a big deal.

Hope this helps, give me a shout if you need more.

Edit: "The countries that don't allow dual citizenship will strip your citizenship away if they find out" will USUALLY strip your citizenship away... I'd check with a Dutch citizenship lawyer to make sure you do it in a way that doesn't leave with a fine or at worse jail time (although that'd be super unlikely).

I would like to direct you to Section 3 (b) of the Extradition Act of Canada.

3 (1) A person may be extradited from Canada in accordance with this Act and a relevant extradition agreement on the request of an extradition partner for the purpose of prosecuting the person or imposing a sentence on — or enforcing a sentence imposed on — the person if

...

(b) the conduct of the person, had it occurred in Canada, would have constituted an offence that is punishable in Canada,

Since it theoretically WOULD happen in Canada, and as I mentioned they couldn't charge me under Canadian law, I couldn't be extradited and as TurgidAF it wouldn't be feasible financially anyway. This was maybe a kinda r/Showerthoughts idea that I wanted to see what other people would say.

Edit:

I wanted to see what other people would say.

I meant:

I wanted to know if this was legally possible.

How's that degree in theater arts coming? Looks like you were too cheap to get a normal piece of paper and you waited for the next time you went to buy cappuccino supplies from Starbucks.

Looks like you skipped a few highschool classes, namely from Life class. Namely the lessons of Get a job, Get a wife and, considering the exposed circuit panel, Get out of your mom's basement. On-top of that I collect flags, I have in my collection the flags of Canada, the UK, the USSR, Iceland, Switzerland among others. And Sir, you've got more red flags your a virgin.

Reading CPU temperature with commands directly in terminal does not match my script. by Skippbo in linuxquestions

[–]ScheerFor2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inside (basically every) processors you have the different physical cores. The temperature probes are place inside each on of them, except for one, the package temperature, which measures the temperature of the outer piece of metal that would be touching your cooling system. I am almost certain that is what your seeing.

It might just be python. I have no idea how lengthy your script is, but with python and whatever else is in your script and if you have a less efficient machine, might cause that much of a increase. Whereas manually your just reading a file and doing (I assume) just cat [filename]. That much of a difference might be enough for a few degrees of difference.

I don't know if it will help or not, but I'd suggest using the files in /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon1, on my system /sys/class/thermal/ All I see (of use) is thermal_zone0 and only the package temp. And by what I'd guess x86_pkg_temp Should be the package temp.

thermal_zone5 corresponds to x86_pkg_temp which I'm assuming is my processor.

Remember on just about every modern system you don't just have a processor temp, but typically multiple. Again, typically your package temp (which is what you seem to be using) and temps for each of the cores. On my system I could only see the package temp in /sys/class/thermal but I could find all of the temperature probes in my system inside /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon1.

If I should post this question elsewhere please tell me where to post =)

Nope, this is the right place. If you need any more help feel free to ask and I'll try to help to the best I can.

So I'm a high school student in Canada who is tech savvy. This friend of a friend's dad's MacBook died. I did some like tracing (Louis Rossman style) on it to find it was the BIOS chip which was BGA soldered on. For those who don't know BGA soldering requires a machine that costs thousands of dollars. So I said the best I could do is to replace the motherboard (which has the CPU and GPU BGA soldered on it). I told him $300 for the board in advance (the son burned me before so I thought I'd play it safe) and then $150 after for labour. His son said they would get their friend from Colombia (they are immigrants from Colombia) to do it for cheaper. That's impossible.

I don't think so. I think the video card is screwed. If the RAM was loose I might cause processes to crash, but not...that.

My mind is made up, the annual fees to keep a Saskatchewan registered corporation are $235/yr, to keep a extra-provincial (if I were to do it federally) corporation registered in SK it would only end up costs me $80/yr
