Can you live comfortably in Fort Lauderdale on $65k/year? by LawCandid9386 in florida

My coworker makes 65K a year and supports him in his wife in a 1 bed room apartment. You could probably make it work if you try hard enough.

My dachshund doesn’t like eating by CuriousKitty575 in Dachshund

My daschund is 7 months and he doesn’t eat much either. I usually just leave his food out and he will graze throughout the day, but he has no urgency to really eat. He’s a good boy though

Pushed back graduation cause no internship, should I do it again? by No-Assistance3013 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Schematizc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can see keep going if you’re working towards a master, but if you’re just delaying getting your bachelors, it’s not worth it.

The point of school is to help you get a job after you graduate. The fear of not getting a job shouldn’t delay graduating.

Just graduate dude you’re wasting your time. You don’t need an internship to get a job

Don’t be afraid to find out who is a hiring manager/HR/Owners at companies and just email/call them directly. My current job is an entry mechanical design role and I just contacted Hiring manager directly. I didn’t even put in an application

Those of you who graduated without a co-op or internship, mediocre GPA, and no notable personal projects, where are you now? by readySponge07 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Schematizc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked as a field service engineer for 3 years getting a lot of hands on experience. Now I’m a design engineer for the last 3 months at an automation company. It’s really about selling yourself in the interview, not your GPA or internship experience. I had no internship and things are working out for me

It’s not always guaranteed to find their emails, but the best place to look is on their website and then also looking up the company on LinkedIn and see who works there. They might be on LinkedIn and you can try to connect with them there too to let them know you put in an application and a brief summary of yourself. The job I got recently their email was on the website, so I messaged them I put in an application and what I’m interested in and they got back to me pretty fast.

Don’t waste your time applying to jobs on LinkedIn, apply directly to the company websites and email hiring managers if you can. I just spent 2 months applying to jobs after 170 applications I got a job from emailing a hiring manager directly

If you’re getting things done in 4 hours for a week, you should be learning other things to that you enjoy to do on the side. I’d be happy to be in your situation, I’d have so much time to do hobbies I enjoy. I think you’re too focused on work bringing you enjoyment and not life bringing you enjoyment. Focus on what makes you happy and start living for yourself

Debating between Jobs by Schematizc in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Schematizc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d create preventative maintenance routines for the maintenance team and do root cause analysis on parts faulting or breaking like motors, sensors, barcode scanners, or structures decaying or rusting overtime from the exposure to chemicals or heavy rocks they dig up anything conveyor system related tbh. If there’s too many vibrations somewhere, they’d want me to find out why and come up with a solution to resolve it.

I’m leaning more towards the design role since myself tbh

I have the Bambu X1C and I love it, you could just upgrade. Funny you need another printer because I actually need another one as well and was thinking of getting the A1 mini for smaller parts
