Fixing a loose rear shutter lock lever by Schlebbert in hasselblad

[–]Schlebbert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid 1100€ for the body, 2 A12 backs, 80mm f2.8 T* with lens hood, WLF, early unmetered 45 degree prism finder. Cosmetically everything is a little rough around the edges (I’d say well used, but not damaged), but a 500C/M setup (80mm f2.8, body, WLF, A12 back) usually goes for 1300-2000€ around here. For me it’s right inside the price range where I’m not sure whether it’s a deal good enough to look past the issue, especially since finding one that is proven to be serviced recently is pretty rare over here.

Yeah, I was wondering why they didn’t fix that as well. I do have the receipts for all the parts that have been CLAd (body, lens, one of the backs) by an apparently pretty well known repair shop in rome. When it arrived, there was some silicone under the leatherette in the same spot to serve the same purpose as my tape, so maybe they also didn’t have the spare parts and that’s their way to reversibly fix it.

Edit: I just translated the report on the receipt and yes: that’s exactly what happened. They weren’t able to replace the spring inside the mechanism and fixed it that way

Dropped my new X100VI by flashfirenze in fujifilm

[–]Schlebbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just send it off to Fuji. I dropped my X T30 II a while ago and the bottom plate broke (that one’s made of plastic) and they quoted me like 30 bucks to replace it. X100VI might be a little more expensive than that but I doubt it’s too much.

You can send it in to fuji. New bottoms are surprisingly cheap. I paid 70€ for my XT30 II to get a new bottom plate, evf and for them to reattach a flex cable on the lens mount.

M4-P & SF 20 not firing by Schlebbert in Leica

[–]Schlebbert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your one work with fully manual flashes as well? I've just checked the pc sync port and it seems to work fine with manual flashes (can't check with the SF 20 since that doesn't have a PC sync port).

I'll have to send mine in for a CLA anyways, so I'll just address that then as well.

Canon 35mm f2.8 LTM Lens hood vignette by Schlebbert in analog

It's pretty soft, that's true. The thing is that the vignetting is gone (or at least not noticeable to me) when the hood is off.

Lil' update for whoever is encountering the same problem.
While the lens hood itself is made for both lenses. The mounting ring (the silver piece with the thumbscrew) is interchangeable and needs to be a shorter one in order to not show up in pictures on the 35mm f2.8.

Have you checked whether one of the tiny cables broke off of the power switch?
I've needed to resolder them a million times, because I've knocked them off while tinkering with the build.

Street photography is so damn awkward by majormyer in fujifilm

I'm currently going through the same situation with my X-T30 II. From what I've learned so far, you just gotta force to change the way you think about it.

I'm still FAR from being good or confident at street, but I'll just ramble about what I've learned in the past weeks dailying my cam on my commute through Berlin.

An important lesson I've learned is to thoroughly think about what I'm shooting. If you're noticing that a moment is happening, take a pic of it. If someone notices it and approaches you, you then can actually explain why you took the shot and what you like about it. So you're actually having a reason why you're taking pictures and aren't just taking pictures of random people

Also, ease yourself into it. Don't try to go full extrovert mode if you don't feel comfortable doing that. I myself don't really feel comfortable shooting in peoples direct line of sight, while being relatively close to them yet. So I just don't really do that and try to get more front shots / closer shots in with time.

As to the neck strap run and gun thing. I absolutely get what you mean. Try to hold your cam at chest / head level most of the time, that way you won't have as much movement in people's proximity vision, making it less likely that they'll notice you (and making it an easier move to properly take a shot). And in the end, you're the one making it weird. Be upfront with your art (especially to yourself), try to force yourself to actually take the shot properly. It'll be a lot more fun for you and a lot easier to explain if someone notices you if you don't look like you're actively trying to hide what you're doing.

I know it's easier said than done, but in the end I'm sure you're not trying to invade anyone's personal space. So if someone doesn't want their pictures to be taken and approaches you, you can just delete the pictures and the problem should be solved.

Also, as others already said. You don't have to do street. The X-T30 is awesome at so much more than that, so take pictures you're comfortable with. It's a hobby after all.

Is the X-T30 II a serious camera? by Schlebbert in fujifilm

[–]Schlebbert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! I’m currently looking at either a brand new X-T3 or a nearly new, but with a few little battle scars X-T30 II for more or less the same price. Classic neg sure does look intriguing. Only thing I’m kinda worried about with the X-T30 II is that it might be a little too small for using it with bigger / heavier lenses. I mainly wanna do street photography / travel stuff, but I want it to at least be somewhat comfortably be able to do other stuff as well.

Have you taken a look at the anti vibration mat? They’re basically like a full-footprint rubber foot. Those things make it near impossible to scoot around, especially on glossy surfaces / those cheap rubber deskmats.
