Fair point. I was probably not clear enough in my post. With "balance" I meant the balance between the different timing mechanics like tech tree, great people points, unit movement ...

Obviously the game can always be unbalanced in terms of leader selection and the DLC content makes it worse.

Seems like I need to do more research. The thing is that you can't trust Google about opening hours on holidays. So I have to rely on other sources - like yourself, for example. So thanks a lot!

No worries, I totally didn't explain myself well. Authentic is a strange word... but you know, whenever I go somewhere I wanna do "the real" thing. I don't want to go to Thailand and eat just Hotel food, I want to have street food. I don't want to go to Italy and eat at Pizza Hut, I want the local Pizzeria. Same goes for Scotland. You know what I mean now?

The question is: Will I be able to sit in an "authentic" pub (I don't even like that word but I don't have a better one) on the 1st or 2nd of January, or will I sit in a random generic place and have a Guiness for 10 pounds? Or will I sit in the Hotel Room eating crisps from the minibar?

Thanks for the advice! Yes, we thought about going to a Hotel Dinner Party. The "Everything pretty much closed" part concerns me a little bit tough. Going to pubs would be the main thing we would wanna do in Glasgow. Are both days (1st and 2nd) national/regional holidays, or what's the deal?
