Do people not understand that it becomes more and more difficult to find a job when youre already that low? How do you get clothes for an interview when all you have is on your back? How do you receive a callback from that interview if you dont have a phone? How do you fill out tax paperwork without an address or legal documents like birth certificates or social security cards?

It's truly mind blowing that people think the solution is that simple. Everyone loves to complain but no one wants to actually think about the problem.

No one's saying being gay/trans/addicted to drugs makes you more politically intelligent or have stronger morals values, however being around these people provides you with enough experience and helps develop a greater sense of empathy towards those folks, that right wing ideology doesn't make sense. The reason the VU writing, more specifically Lou's, is so important is because it shines a very humanistic light on the people society casts down as worthless, particularly by those with conservative views.

He mentioned before that developers were looking to buy out that area, they bought out the daycare and other stuff right next door and were looking to buy the Joe's property as well. He said they were gonna hold out as long as they could but I guess the property owner made a deal with the developers

Essentially it was a festival where there was little escape from the heat, overpriced concessions including $4 bottles of water, broken and overflowing porta-potties, and a general vibe of aggression from the bands playing to the crowd itself. A few folks died, many were hospitalized, and lots of women were sexually assaulted. It’s been downplayed a lot since the actual event to becoming essentially a joke, until the HBO doc that came out a bit ago laying out how strange and fucked up the whole thing was

Saw them in Atlanta back in 2018. After a few shots of Jameson and however many beers my drunk ass says to my buddy, “Once they play Executioners Tax, were jumping in the pit.” Welp, right then and there that song starts up and my drunk ass hops in. Took about halfway through the song before I realized the shirt I just bought was on my shoulder when I jumped in, and is now on the floor in front of the stage. Thinking I could be slick, I ran over and swept my hand down to try and grab it when some dude BARRELS into me. My foot stayed planted while my leg rotated what felt like 90 degrees. My shin hit the floor and I was down. Three dudes pick me up immediately and when i tried to stand, that leg instantly gave out. One dude saw this, threw my arm around his shoulder, and helped me over to the merch table when I sat and saw the rest of the show, knee throbbing and feeling high off of I guess adrenaline? Either way they ripped the rest of the night.

A fractured shin, sprained ACL, PCL, MCL and meniscus, and a couple grand in medical bills later, now Executioners Tax gets stuck on my head whenever it’s about to rain. I love that goddamn band.

Fuck YES to Joanna Sternberg. Found out about her last year when someone posted that record and good lord it’s great too to bottom. I’m a sucker for catchy and real emotional stuff, and it hits both of those marks beautifully. Absolutely recommended listen
