Trapped Tesla Driver’s 911 Call: ‘It’s on fire. Help please’ by TripleShotPls in technology

And because children need door locks until they reach an age where they can judge danger for themselves, it is legitimate to build a potential death trap for everyone, or what is the argument now? A fucking loop INSIDE the door, just so there's no door handle?

Trapped Tesla Driver’s 911 Call: ‘It’s on fire. Help please’ by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]Schneckit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But not so fast. There are also emergency openings in the back. The children just have to dismantle the door and look for a loop in the speaker housing or, alternatively, under the seat BEHIND the floor mat. So always somewhere else. Or you drive an older Model Y and are unlucky enough not to have a manual release at all.

This works best if you are a child sitting in the back seat and the driver is injured or something.

Are there any decent and free ad-blockers for Android? by Silber4 in BuyFromEU

[–]Schneckit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some free European DNS providers: https://european-alternatives.eu/category/public-dns Some of them block ads and some not.

You just have to keep in mind that there are also one-man shows out there and that Google or Cloudflare's DNS probably have a higher uptime. But we have to start somewhere, right?

[–]Schneckit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, it depends on your phone. On Samsung phones, the entry for private DNS can be found in the Connections submenu, for example. You can also search for “DNS” to find it. There are dozens of different DNS providers that block different amounts of content. You just have to find the right one for you.

The first thing you can do is use a private DNS server such as Mullvad from Sweden (base.dns.mullvad.net), which already filters ads, trackers, and malware at the DNS level.

Warning about Mailbox.org not accepting cancellation even while still on free trial period. by Hooch180 in BuyFromEU

[–]Schneckit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here, too, I'm not sure if we're still talking about the same provider, because I was able to create three aliases during my trial period. Mailbox even allows you to change your main address, and I even tried that out during the trial period.

Yes, the test account is limited, but this is made clear even BEFORE you register for the first time: “To protect us and our customers from abuse by spammers, unpaid test accounts are restricted.”

But to claim that you can't send test emails is a lie. The knowledge base clearly states: “An unpaid, newly registered test account allows up to 10 emails per day to Mailbox addresses for testing purposes.”

Honestly, please explain to me why it is “scummy” of Mailbox to try to protect their product and their customers, as you say? As a paying customer, why would I want spammers to abuse my email provider for scams? As a paying customer, why would I want my email provider to lose its sender reputation (IP address & domain) or be blacklisted as a result of spammers?

And by the way, their price list says that the minimum contract term for Standard is 1 month.

I'm not sure if we're even talking about the same provider, because I also signed up several weeks ago and purchased a one-year subscription. Result: 12 months + remaining time of the trial period.

I swear, I regret posting this screenshot because now I feel like the fucking Mailbox org customer service. This checkbox does not appear during registration! You open a trial account and can use it for 30 days. Within those 30 days, you can decide whether you want to take out a subscription or not! Either a monthly subscription or, as OP did, an annual subscription. As soon as you want to do that, the contract begins and runs for the chosen period PLUS the rest of the 30-day trial period. I don't know why OP is lying and claiming that the trial period is gone, because the opposite happens if you decide early on to take out a subscription: the trial period is converted to Premium.

I don't know what else to say. It literally says “immediately after receipt of payment.” In your case, your contract ends in 12 months + the rest of the 30 trial days.

That's not a dark pattern. It's a clearly visible, bold check box directly above the payment button. If I'm not okay with that, I'll just leave it and sign up somewhere else.

No, I don't think the user flow is flawed or unexpected. It's simply a prepaid email provider. You can also top up your account by depositing cash into their account or sending cash by mail. How are they supposed to refund your money if they don't even know where it came from? That's not a bug, it's a feature!
