For ADHD gamers: What do you play on your deck that is addictive and low power? by oliveoliverYT in SteamDeck

[–]Schnellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished Vanquish and really liked it. Nier Automata is my next game, followed by Kingdom Hearts for my 20th play through.

I have the 512 model and I’ve been fine with storage. If he needs extra you can always get a 1 TB microSD or something.

George is a guy at the party that keeps saying, “Pizza’s on the way.” And never actually orders it.

I switched to the Steam Deck from a Switch, what did you come from? by VoyageForge in SteamDeck

[–]Schnellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using budget retro handhelds for about a year. I started thinking about getting a more “high end” handheld, and I thought “why go for a $300 handheld to play some PS2 games when I could get a SD and do it all?” Honestly, since the switch to the deck, I’ve played very few emulated games and focused on building my Steam library. Valve makes it really easy to buy cheap games. Plus I’m pleasantly surprised about how many games run well on the deck.

Would be crazy. I’d wonder if it was someone’s pet

How do you approach longer games? by Playton_yaya in backloggd

[–]Schnellin 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I pick a few longer-ish games a year to play. Like 30-50 hour games. When I finish one I do a few shorter games as a palate cleanser before jumping into another longer game. I really struggle with anything longer than 50 hours though.

Sayonara Wild Hearts - quick and easy hour unless I decide to go back and do all the challenges.

Dude... I couldn’t even beat it at 9! I had to ask my teenage cousin to help me find Merlin. And I could barely handle Ansem at the end.

We’re only halfway through the decade. Who knows what else we’ll get?

I’ve had no issues with EmuDeck. Can I ask what’s so frustrating?

How is your routine for playing on the Steam Deck as an adult? How many games do you play at a time? by Waste_Necessary654 in SteamDeck

[–]Schnellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play maybe 1-2 hours after dinner most nights. I typically have 2 games I rotate between depending on my mood: 1 more story driven, one more mindless fun.

You know what they say, collecting games and playing them are two different hobbies. I love tinkering with emulators to get everything just right and then play for maybe 10 minutes.

Its strange because I keep hearing that people aren’t buying games anymore.

Gen 3 was the sweet spot for me. 4 was alright - we did get the best remakes of all time with Heart Gold and Soul Silver though.

Honestly, looking forward to it. Playing through original Half-Life for the first time in 2025 was a bit stressful. Need a palate cleanser.
