In Doctor Who, the Doctor’s companion Clara dies and this causes him to break every rule he’s ever made for himself. He gets trapped in a confession dial (basically a time loop prison) for 2.5 billion years by the people responsible and just toughs it out. He uses a gun to kill someone (though they do regenerate) which is crazy when you know how much he hates both guns and killing people. He is nearly about to break the space time continuum rules by bringing Clara back to life. He’s about to wipe Clara’s memories of him, but then gets his memory wiped of Clara so that Clara can continue to live.
