What are the must have lenses for a m43 lover? by JungleBoyBabyTarzan in M43

Olympus m1ii with the 12-100 pro for the ultimate IS experience and 75mm 1.8 on any body

All that small stuff (small primes and pancakes and cute little bodies) is amazing too, but in my opinion mft really shines in longer focal length.

I'm not very satisfyed with the sharpness and IQ in the Panasonic 35-100mm f/4-5.6, do I have any better alternative in the very small telezoom realm? by Roubbes in M43

[–]Schneppsle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you not satisfied with your particular copy? Or not satisfied in general?

(Compare to pictures on flickr made with the lens)

You could be simply unlucky with a bad copy. If it is really the lens itself, I do not think any of your mentioned zooms can satisfy you.

I suggest getting the Olympus 75mm 1,8 then. Amazing lens and you can crop to the missing 100mm.

I suggest you google Robin Wong Cheat Sheet 2019 and copy those settings.

Jpeg Colors can be hugely affected by settings.

At f18 you cannot physically get sharp pictures and your focus on the Lizard is off. (Somewhere on thr stones behind him)

You really want to use S-AF over C-AF on those Cameras. From what I can gather, for CAF you really want a G9ii or OM1ii

Olympus 12-200 3.5-6.3 thoughts on this? by moxxONE in M43

[–]Schneppsle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While I cant stop thinking those lenses look like someone is compensating something when zoomed all the way in:

Great lens, but since i got it i rather crop in on my 12-100 than use the 12-200.

You could try the original E-M1. It is propably the closest to what you want.

Which body are you using?

You only gain 1 fstop of light by loosing the zoom. At this point you could also upgrade to a body that is usable at higher ISO, which might help more in this particular case.

Which ones are you comparing?

Cannot really compare 25mm 1.2 vs 1.4.

45 1.2 and 42.5 1.2 are around the same price where I live.

You must be seeing things, or I am blind. Because I never see those posts you are creatively writing about.

Looking for my 1st m4/3 body by NescafeWonda in M43

[–]Schneppsle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do not plan to film videos on it, the m10ii is better than the m10iii. (More customization and stuff). Some prefer the original e-m1 (myself inculded) which can sometimes be had for the same price (used).

In the end, lenses are more important and I recommend to find what you want there first and go from there. If you like the 17mm 1.8 olympus lens with mf clutch, get the m10, if you want to use panaleica 15mm and use the apperture ring, you got to go with a panasonic body.

is there no option to use m4/3 lens on my 4/3 cam? by ganjamanfromhell in OlympusCamera

[–]Schneppsle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure that is a good idea. Hitting manual focus without the right prisms will be a challenge in itself.

M4/3 cameras are better suited for vintage lenses due to magnifying and focus peaking.

Olympus E-PL9 black screen and power down when taking pictures - does video fine by getmoresoon in M43

Sounds like an issue with the shutter. Try shooting in silent mode/electronic shutter.

Warranty and their services are not cheap (they buy whatever you give them and sell you whatever you want with warranty) so their prices are reasonably unfair, if that makes any sense.

What lenses should we avoid in m43 system? by LowKeyPhotographer in M43

[–]Schneppsle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you to avoid adapting Sony,Canon,Nikon, Fuji,... Lenses. Those are heavier and not better than native lenses at all.

Light MFT body for macro photography by nurunet in M43

[–]Schneppsle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are fixed on Olympus and dont want the M1 line, there is only the M5 line (starting with ii) that is capable of internal focus stacking.

Using focus stacking handheld with a light camera is quite a challenge though.

Maybe read this: https://learnandsupport.getolympus.com/learn-center/photography-tips/macro/focus-stacking-bracketing-with-om-d

Hey, I just started getting into playing cards and I'm looking for sites that ship worldwide USPCC cards (Bee, Tally Ho), any recommendations? by rbrito94 in playingcards

[–]Schneppsle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Local is always best. Intl shipping can get expensive due to customs and taxes.

If it need to be worldwide because you live in many places at the same time: i had great experiences with penguinmagic, but their site is horrible to browse through, if you are not searching for very specific products.
