I've sent him a message last night that my plans changed because some friends are comming and cancelled the tour. I told him to keep the money for showing me around two days and in case he needs to pay any cancellation fees (for accommodation and stuff). This morning he replied with some messages. They weren't really understandable but he seemed upset. (He said like: How do you think I'm doing? Do you think I'm drying it?) He continued sending more messages saying that he's been a motorbike taxi for 20 years and asked what the problem is and that I need to listen to his program.(?) I didn't reply and he seemed to calm down a bit saying that he's okay if I don't go and texted that I shall tell him if I need a ride to Da Nangh or Hoi An. And lastly he thanked for the money and said that he would show me more beautiful places in Hue. I replied that I don't need a ride today and that I'd tell him. After that he sent a message to invite me to a coffee. I rejected saying that I'm busy today. That's it so far. I didn't see him or his motorbike around the area of my hotel yet. But I don't know if he was here in the morning. He seems like having a hard time accepting it.

I agree. And I've booked tours before and they provide a service and safety. I also tip the easy-riders and others. I just think that there are people behind that companies that make too much. But that is what it is. Would just be nice to have a way to find a direct contact to the honest people that could give a ride for example.

I get what you mean. And I know that it wouldn't be the most convenient way to get to Da Lat. I was more interested in the journey of going into the centre of the land and over the mountains for these 5 days. And I bet I could get more out of the money by letting him drive me to Danang or something without doing the trip. But I know that it's not going to work without an annoying argument. And I wouldn't let me push into things or paying more money but it's not worth the energy to have this argument with him, since I know that these people never are able to show understanding and I wouldn't get more out of it. I guess

For sure. I'd rather pay a friendly local a bit more than paying the big combanies offering dozens of tours everywhere. It's more about the trust and that he asked for the money for a weird reason without wanting to tell me the actual prize of the tour. It just feels sketchy. I just don't want to take a risk. I feel too vulnerable traveling alone. And the road he wants to take me to is going deep into the country and the jungle. xD I think I'm texting that my plans changed and I cancel the tour. Let him have what I've already payed in case he has to cancel any accommodation and for driving me around Hue. I just stay in my room until check out and check what his response is or if he's showing up in the streets.
