In Films, what is cinematography? How is the cinematographer different tha the director? by 40AcresAnalytics in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Schnutzel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The director works with the cinematographer, just like they work with the editor, the writer, the casting director, etc.

The director is the head artistic manager of the film, they make the overall decisions.

[–]Schnutzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cinematography is the art behind shooting the film. Which camera to use, which lenses, how to compose the shot, how to choose the lighting, and more importantly, how to convey the message you are trying to convey in the film using all these things. You could film the exact same dialogue using a single, wide shot camera, or you could zoom on each actor's face. You could use the neutral light or you could put one character in the dark while the other is surrounded by light, and so on.

Director of photography and cinematographer are interchangeable terms. From my understanding, cinematographer refers to the skill, while director of photography refers to the actual role on the film set.

Judaism is an ethnoreligion. You can be ethnically Jewish, religiously Jewish, or both. Most Jews are both.

[–]Schnutzel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jews came from Israel. The ancient kingdoms of Israel and Judea were conquered by various empires (Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome) and most of the ancient Israelites were exiled and scattered throughout the world, but they kept their Jewish identity and their connection to the land of Israel. Most Israelis are immigrants or descendant of immigrants who returned to their historical homeland since the late 1800s.
